February 25th, 2004Man, I hear people praise this movie all the time. They're always talking about how good it is and how much they love it. Frankly I just don't understand.
To me there was really nothing special about this movie. Yeah, it had a lot of surreal scenes, some of which were sort of interesting. Sure, the cinematography was alright (not great like many claim.) Oh, and the sound was terrible. It was totally out of sync. That was a big distraction for me, and it made the film seem sloppy.
I just couldn't get into the movie. The subject matter--it's a movie about making a movie--could have been enticing, but it wasn't. The story was pretty lame, and the characters were not all that interesting.
It is certainly possible that I'm just missing the point here. If that's the case, somebody please email me and tell me about it. From my perspective, though, this movie is just an overrated bore.
