The News and Information in the Visitor�s Guide Section of the Drexel University website is very informative in relaying the message of how the school plans to prepare their students for the future. This introduction is written by Dr. Constantine Papadakis, the president of the University. The goals and opportunities outlined in the section demonstrate a �creed� so to speak. After reading this section of the website, I felt that Drexel University has created a curriculum which will, in a step-by-step process, lead each student to greatness in their future. CO-OP Experience It provides students with hands-on experience in real-world occupations, not just labs in their school. This opportunity takes students around the world and placing them in workplaces where they apply their skills learned through University courses at a �real-world� level. I feel that this is the most valuable experience a student can take advantage of as it will place them ahead of other graduates when they apply for jobs after graduations. This is one of the deciding factors I took into consideration when I was applying to schools. The experience that I will gain in such a position will put me ahead of others as I have already been working in the �real-world� for over a year and help me achieve greatness in my future. Technological Benefits Being a technological school, Drexel uses this as a key aspect when comparing itself to other Universities. It was one of the first schools to require each student to have a computer and was the first campus to go completely wireless. These technological advancements place students in a learning environment that is one of the best in the area. All students have access to computers and the internet everywhere on campus, whether it be through their personal laptop, one of the numerous computer labs, and �smart� classrooms. This enables Drexel University to offer classes online to those interested in them anywhere in the world. I feel that this is a very appealing aspect of the University and helps students achieve greatness in technological areas as well as broadening their education from anywhere in the world due to their availability of online courses. Creating Well-Rounded Students I feel that this is very important as creating a well-rounded student will make them a better applicant for future job positions. The volunteer experience looks very good on resumes, plus gives a personal sense of satisfaction knowing you are helping someone else. Also, the available arts and humanities exhibits expose students to a variety of different art. Also, the fact that Drexel University is located in the heart of Philadelphia, the cultural experience one can experience is second to none, with multiple attractions within a few miles off campus.
