Well, the old 'Stang is gone, but not forgotten. It was sold to a Pete Guidry of Gonzales, who had the time and money to do the work I didn't feel like doing anymore. I just decided it was time to move on to something newer and more efficeint, especially if I had to use it as an everyday driver. I'm still proud of the work I did, and I miss the horsepower the old 'Stang produced, but I'm happy with my progress on my '88. I just thought It would be good to keep all the stuff I did on my '69.
I started it all off with a basic 1972 model 351 Cleveland High Output with the open chamber 4 barrel heads, and original Motorcraft 4 barrel carb and cast iron intake. The motor was hooked to a C-6 automatic transmission, which I scrapped in favor of a top-loader 4 speed manual. The engine was pretty strong to start off with (making over 240 horses-stock), but I wanted one that could easily compete with the 5.0 and the newer 4.6, so these are the changes I made:
Induction System
Intake-Edelbrock Performer
Carburetor-Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm
Cam and Timing System
Camshaft- Ford Motorsport Hydraulic 292-302 duration
.510-.536 lift
Double roller timing chain (advanced 4 degrees)
Heavy duty pushrods
Crane Hydraulic lifters
Crane Valvespirngs
Ignition System
Stock Ford electronic ignition distributor
MSD Blaster 2 Coil
Headman Headers
Drive Train
2.5 inch true duals into Flowmaster dual chambers
1968 Ford Toploader 4 speed
Blowproof Bellhousing
Ram Racing Clutch
Stock Ford 8 inch rear end with 3.00 to 1 ratio

These are pictures of my Mustang. After about 2 months of steady bodywork, I finally got it painted in October of 1998. The paint was laid down by Timmy Bailey at Belle Rose Paint and Body. It came out better than I expected, and you can see the results in the following pictures. I included some "before" pictures to show just how far it went. Just click on the little pictures to see the full-size ones.
My 'Stang- looking kinda crappy and covered with sanded primer, bondo, and fiberglass, along with some bare metal.
A picture of my unpainted 'Stang from the front.
This is my unfinished 'Stang from the drivers side. I haven't even sanded this side yet.
Here is a side view of my newly painted car.
This is a front view of the finished product. Big difference!
This is my engine. It looks good now, and is running even better. I plan to run it at the track around the beginning of the summer.
Here is another side view...I'm very happy with it....hard work pays off, considering I did everything myself except spraying the paint!
How it looks now (3/25/00)
