The Adventures of Dremron and Company

Chapter Seven
Across Dwarven Borders

Gildroan lifted his round paunch and walked out of the tent, worrying about what the mage would do to him.

"Elora has explained your story to me Gildroan, but I would like to hear it from you," said Dremron, sitting down on a log by the fire pit. "Please," he motioned to a log nearby, "Come, and sit down."

The dwarf made his way to the fire where Dremron and Elora were. He sat down on a log, took a deep breath and launched into his story. As he was finishing, three others, a man, an elf, and a cleric walked into camp.

"And so that's how I got here," Gildroan ended.

"Well Dremron, who is this, picked up another recruit?" asked Crowin, pausing and looking Gildroan up and down.

"Recruit?" questioned the puzzled dwarf, looking at Dremron for help.

"I haven't really got to that yet," Dremron explained to the elf. "This, everybody, is Gildroan. Gildroan, that tall, man is Behedroth, the elf is Crowin, and that cleric is Tholoman," said the mage as he introduced the three. "We are all on a quest to end the reign of the Hobgoblin Lords, starting with Norgot. We require the help of one more person, from your story it would seem you have nowhere to go. Would you like to join us?"

"As you said, I have nowhere to go, but anywhere is better that staying here within reach of the dwarven army, so I'll go," Gildroan answered.

In mountains not to far away, a hobgoblin regiment marched with their leader Norgot. Little did Dremron and the others know that they were within a league of their enemy.

The sun rose to find Dremron and his group out of the forest on rougher ground, hiking towards the boundary between the Dwarven country, and Sarthenieth, Norgot's realm. They were headed towards Norgot's fortress where they planned on finding a way to get in and free the slaves inside.

All these plans fell apart though, for as they walked over a rise in their mountain path they came upon Norgot's regiment of hobgoblins.

"Dremron! Up ahead," Crowin gestured to the orcs at the end of the line of marching enemy. "Quick, hide, we can still escape."

"No, its too late, they've seen us," Dremron said, as he spoke this, ten orcs swiftly made their way towards them, "But, maybe we can use this to our advantage. It will be easier to free the slaves from the inside than from the out."

The group just stood there as the furry, bear-like hobgoblins ran up to them and shackled them to the same chain. "How can we use this to our advantage?" said an uncertain Gildroan as they were pulled away.
