Test your knowledge:

 

These are either true or false…

 

  1. Zèlónjùmáhódụ would mean “As few as ten”

 

  1. njùmbúsә means “Ninth”

 

  1. Ŋkòsûbábọ would mean “(the) third time.”

 

  1. For compound attributive verbs, “having the characteristic of”, “worthy of” and “Good at” are the three main ones seen.

 

  1. For the other groups, the main attributive verbs deal with the head and the heart.

 

  1. I+go+fish mean “I went fishing” and is a correct serial verb.

 

  1. You+hunt+return+hut mean “You hunted, and then returned home” and is a correct serial verb.

 

  1. Interjections can be used anywhere in a sentence?

Self exercises:

 

Try and write some simple sentences using interjections, conjunctions and serial verbs to get a good feel for how they fit in a sentence.

 

Try and write some sentences with some plurals and numbers to get a good idea of the differences between how they work in a sentence.

 

See if you can write a few small sentences using a combination of conjunctions, plurals, serial verbs and attributive verbs.
