The Sale is the Life

I bought a life:
wrapped it in plastic
protected from the rain
buffed up its shine everyday
made it look pretty
made it expensive
dressed to kill.

Then it collided, collapsed,
broke in pieces
figures of eight on the bathroom floor
bruised & bleeding
not so expensive now
a bad investment:
I want my money back!

Oh no, the Salesman said:
its yours now, no refunds
but just to show no hard feelings
have a nice bandage
to make it pretty again.

Took it home, washed it
brushed it, fixed it.
But was it fixed?
It wouldn't stop crying
kept on protesting
kept on falling apart.

Took it to the Salesman,
he said, 'look,
I have other lives to produce
if you want rid of it
you'll have to throw it out
dispose of it
get rid of it.
I'm busy, too busy.'

Its not pretty, its no use
keeps breaking & crying
so...

BANG!
life over.

Tick, tick, tick.
