Safety

Warm light
Dust
Peace.
Heavy, blanketing silence
Fills the air
The only noise
Pages turning
The breathing of readers
Looking for knowledge in brown tomes.

Sitting in a pool of light
Hearing rain patter
And pages turn
There is nothing so safe
As a house of knowledge.

"Knowledge is power"
"The pen is mightier than the sword"
With the key of knowledge
We possess the earth
Richer skies
Than nature dreamt of
Wierd animals
Monstrous things
All are here
Captured in the white pages
To work their magic upon us.

Would that we could
Live forever in such a library
Breathing in knowledge and dust
Safe and at peace
In the temple of books
Until the very end of time.
