The Light Fantastic

She'll dance the light fantastic
on a summer afternoon
searching out the glory
that lets her walk upon the waves
covered in shining strands of light
and rushing joy around her.

She'll dance for the pain and the joy
that life has laid her way
she'll whirl with hate and love
in a vortex of exhilaration.
Yes she'll dance the light fantastic
and in it gain an ending.

She'll dance in an ecstatic whirlwind
of joy, hate, love and pain
tapping out her life's rhythm
in the ending of her life.
For her dancing is at the end of a rope
and she dances in space sublime
and the dance of the light fantastic
will be all she ever knows.
