And Death Still Shines So Bright

And death still shines so bright
Beneath the purple mottled skies
Its truth pierces like the light
Of the sun's rays in my eyes.

All else may be false, but I
Know death is ever true,
Though histories still may lie,
Yet death will come to me and you.

He is the rock beneath our feet
He is the light that shines afar
He is the dark face that we meet
In every street, in every bar.

When all else has turned to dust,
When our lives are covered with blight,
When our works are smothered by rust,
Still death will shine so bright.
