All night at the Hollow Bastion Gala she stared at Sir Sephiroth, head knight of the Hollow Bastion SOLDIERS. He was so beautiful in his own elegance, often thought of at first glance as a brute or scoundrel, despite his high regard, but Kairi knew better, that no one could be the head knight without being a mixture of tough but undying kind. Perhaps that was what she admired the most out of the six foot man with flowing silver hair and radiant dusk summer eyes, the kind of green no professional artist could ever hope to create. How she wanted to gather the courage from every fiber of her being to just walk up to the man and introduce herself, maybe start a conversation, but above all, she wanted a dance. Just one. Not too much to ask for, right?

�He sure is handsome, huh?� a voice came from behind, startling Kairi almost to the point of toppling over into the watermelon punch bowl, forever ruining her favorite lacy and elegant pink dress. It was Tifa Lockhart, a local of Hollow Bastion, a well renowned martial artist, and the date of the much sought after Cloud Strife. She smiled kindly at the shorter Kairi. �Well? It is Sir Sephiroth you�re staring at, right?�
�Um�� Kairi was at a lost for words, hoping to buy some contemplation time by straightening out her gown, and making sure the heart charm on the chain around her neck showed just right. �W-well, I�was I suppose,�
Tifa roared out with a laughter; not a mocking or cruel one, but a triumphant one at the pleasure of her guess being right. Though it really wasn�t a shot in the dark considering most of the woman inside the elaborate hall was doing just the same. But unlike most of the females (granted this observation did not apply to all) weren�t close enough to good looking for Sephiroth, Tifa felt Kairi was. And she was Sephiroth go way back, thus granting her the knowledge that due to his unexpected and excessive missions he was lonely and looking. She was dying to hook him up with someone.
�Come with me sweetheart, we can close this deep gap between you two right now!� Without warning Tifa hooked her arm with Kairi�s, and began to guide her across the room where he stood. However Kairi desperately broke free and stumbled back, somewhat careful to not only be sure to not make a spectacle of herself but to also not break a heel of her brand new Leonhart shoes.
She gathered herself and protested against the all too eager martial artist. �I can�t meet him! I mean, it�s just not time, not now.�
�What�s your name?�

�Okey dokey!�

Tifa was already half way across the tile floored room, flying solo this time, before it finally came into focus for the weak in the common sense department Kairi to realize who she was heading for and was her intentions were. She was prepared to make a b-line towards the girl, but it was too late. From her position, she could Tifa made it to her final destination and was already engaged in conversation. If ever there was a time when Kairi wish lightening would just strike her dead, it was now. Sephiroth chuckled in what Kairi assumed was the right places, and looked happily content in other places. As soon as the exchanging was over, he glanced over her way once, said something that may have been a farewell of some kind to Tifa, and headed over.

Oh God! Oh God! What now!? Kairi�s thoughts began to scramble as she tried to piece together a plan of some sort, but it was too late. He already stood before her, a civil knight�s blue uniform accompanied by various medals of honor. She looked up; face blood and beet red, he staring down at her, calm, cool, collective, and coy. He reached down for her hand, bent his upper body, and kissed her creamy skin.
�How do you do, Miss Kairi?�

For the second time this night Kairi hadn�t the faintest idea of what to say, so the not logical section of her brain forced something out:
�P-pretty good your highness!� highness!?
He laughed at this, absolutely delighted with her shyness and her young girl innocence and charm. Her face glowed all the more red; he began to adore it. �I don�t think I�ve reached a high standard as �highness� but as they say, you never know when the smoke will blow your way.�
�I-I�m sorry��
From a safe distance Tifa watched carefully as her date Cloud caught up with his old buddy Leon. She wore a satisfied smirk.
�May I have this dance, Miss Kairi?�
This was it. Pure shock; Kairi had hoped to never experience it as it sounded just awful from what people say. But this time she released a reasonable response with a calm smile, and a clearing of her throat, �Of course, Sir Sephiroth.�
He lead her to the dance floor, influencing his walk on hers: a sense of gliding on the air just inches above the surface until he picked an acceptable spot that wouldn�t over crowd them with fellow couple, and where the new moon light shown in beautifully, for that was why the gala was held once a year. It was believed that the first new moon of summer was the luckiest in any field: love, health, work, you name it. So the citizens guests, all are welcomed, joined together to celebrate it and bask in its glory and holiness. It was also said to just be the most perfect evening of all the evenings in the year; although that was pretty biased.

He spun her around the circled reflection of moonlight placed onto their own heaven of floor, with just as much care as a gentile would possess, and that definitely was Sephiroth. Kairi, soon after the second dip, became 100% overwhelmed by the festivities that she was fully convinced that Sephiroth was the one; that he and she would spend the rest of their lives together, to have children and a quaint little house on the shore of Destiny Island where they would spend the rest of their golden years together, watching the time pass, picking papaya fruit and just all around being in love. And this was the night where any and all of your dreams could come true. After all, weren�t dream mostly just believing and hoping in order for them to form into reality? If that were the case, and more likely than not it was, her dream of her life with Sephiroth would surely come true. They passed by the big bay window leading to a balcony that over looked a grand garden, and in her full view, Kairi spotted a shooting star on which she made her wish (just as a sort of insurance policy). The notion made her smile with joy, and being in Sephiroth�s arms kept the smile fueled for the entirety of the night.

Cloud came to Tifa�s side from behind, looking at what she had been watching while he was away.
�I asked you to not interfere with Sephiroth�s relationships; you always go way over the top.� He snaked his arm around her dainty waist (which she miraculously kept even with her high body muscle count. In fact, she kept her whole body petit, not to be taken lightly however. That�s another story though).
�Hey, no one, and I mean NO ONE should be alone on this night of all nights when you never know what could happen�� she turned her head so her lips could meet her lover�s, in which they held a passionate kiss for a time.
Throughout their, short or long as it may be, both lost track of the time, the two became completely absorbed in each other, connecting in a way neither had before, falling in a way only dreamt up in fairy tales of princesses and prince charm�s.

Unfortunately, the gala was coming to an end as midnight had long come and went, and its guests were asked to head home within the hour. Sephiroth had to go away for some time for duty, and Kairi was due back to her home where Sora, Riku, and Selphine all awaited. Their bodies parted slowly, and vowed to meet again (for Kairi, tearfully). Next year.

At the next Full Moon Gala. Though Kairi�s wish had come true: they most certainly fell in love, and they definitely did meet again next year, and danced their dance in their special corner of the Hallow Bastion hall, only talking of each other and romancing all the while, the third year ending in a trip to a luxurious hotel, and the year after. And as the future had promised through Kairi�s midnight shoot star wish, two months after the fourth year gathering Sephiroth and Kairi became one in holy matrimony; vowed to be together and in love for the rest of their lives, which did indeed come true. And they did have kids; three girls.
