One of my biggest dreams in life was to become a fire fighter. I could not become a fire fighter due to health problems. One main problem was that I get dizzy when I am up on a ladder. It is a requirement to be able to climb ladders.
I know September 11, 2001 was the worst day in U.S history, but, that day was met with the very best. Some while giving their best gave their all. I don't know if I would have been able to handle it, but, I would have done my very best and would have given my time in rescue efforts, if I could have been a fire fighter.
I would have also given my very best in the rescue efforts of Hurricane Katrina, if I could have been a fire fighter.
Since I can't be a firefighter, I join the efforts of showing my love and support for them all.
History facts of Fire Departments:
The first known Fire Department was known as a Brigade. Started in Roman times. Men would stand outside the gate ready and prepared to fight fire.
Benjamen Franklin started the first fire Brigade in the U.SA.
The first fire engine was a carrage driven by horses.
Dalmatian's became the mascot of fire departments because they used to run along side of the horse drawn carriage, when there was a fire.
More to come.
here are some of the ways that I show my support for fire fighters:
I have many web pages showing support for them. On these websites I have written poems and have spoken out on my beliefs about each and every one of them.
I have done tribute e-zines for Lodds' and for those who serve and protect us today.
I have made it known throughout the place where I live on how I feel about our first responders.
I have spoken to our Mayor, State Senator and our Govenor about budget cuts for fire departments and some resolutions to prevent fire departments from being budget cut.
I have written two books honoring those who lost their lives in the September 11,2001 attachs.
I have made it an effort to know our first responders and who they are.
I sponser a yahoo fire fighting group.
These are just some of the ways that I have shown my support for first responders.
You can join the effort by:
Getting to know the first responders in your community.
By letting your government officials know how you feel about Budget Cuts and other issues.
Start a web page of your own and a group for first responders.
The effort you put in will be very rewarding.
