A Trip to Colorado to pick up Artemisia! |

So, Jen and I left Lawrence on Friday June 23rd in order to go up to Fort Collins and bring Artemisia back. First I stopped by the bank real quick and picked up the $475 dollars I was paying Rick for her. From there, Jen and I left; I think it was about noon) on our 2 day adventure. We were going to be driving up Friday, picking up the bus and crashing at Rick's, and then heading back to Lawrence Saturday morning as Rick had to work at 8:00. So anyways we left and first got to Topeka where we needed to pick up the tow dolly. We get there and do the thing but first they had to wire the Dakota to tow it as you can't tow a dolly without having the lights hooked up. That was 40 bucks but it was something that had to be done. So we get back on the road and begin the long trek across western Kansas. I had looked on MapQuest a few days before and it said that it took 8 hours and 57 minutes to Fort Collins from Lawrence. Well, it took about that long just to get to the Colorado border... |

It was about 11:30PM when we decided that the drive was taking entirely too long and we were exhausted. We were only an hour from Fort Collins so we decided it would be best to just find a hotel off the next exit so we stop at this comfort in and ask the guy for a room. He informs us in this oddly smug fashion that "All the places in Fort Collins and most places around are full." We were so not expecting this so we ask him what was going on that was bringing all the people out there and he replies again in his snooty manner, "It's summer." Ok... That was not exactly a reasonable answer but we were ok with it and the guy did help us find a place in the neighboring town so off we went to get our place. Turns out it was an extended stay place and cost us 107 bucks! Since it was the only place we knew had a room and it was the handicap accessible room at that, so we just stayed there. There was this really nice Scottish lady at the front desk we informed me that we were in Longmont. Ok so we get to sleep about 1:00 and wake up fresh at 4:00(insert sarcasm here) hehe. We needed to make it up to Fort Collins in time to get everything done before Rick had to get to work. We get there about 7:00 and take a look at Artemisia and then comes the fun part, loading her onto the tow dolly! |

| So that wasn't working and we decided to drive her up! 1...2...3... and wham! the ball hitch pops out and into the tailgate of the truck. Ouch!!! |
