The
dramatics with which Elijah flung himself into the booth at the pub was highly
amusing for his friends. “What the fuck’s wrong with you?” Billy asked. They
had expected him a couple of hours ago and had figured he’d just crashed.
“Gawd
she is so infuriating!” He exclaimed. The waitress showed up right then, “A
pint and a shot of JD.” He ordered.
Dom
started giggling, “My word he’s flustered.”
Orlando
patted Elijah’s arm, “What’d she do?”
Elijah
looked at him then flopped his head onto his arms, “Anything and everything.
Good fucking lord she’s amazing!” He said into the table.
Billy
raised an eyebrow at Dom then asked, “So what the hell are you doing here?”
“She
kicked me out.” He mumbled.
“My
god!” Dom exclaimed, “Took a quickie then got rid of you. That’s cold.”
“Fuck
off.” Elijah said just as he drinks arrived. He threw the shot back and chased
it with a huge gulp of his beer.
Dylan’s
alarm jarred her awake the next morning. Her head was pounding like she was
hung over. The only problem is, she wasn’t. She hadn’t drunk the night before,
but boy was she absolutely intoxicated by the man she’d allowed into her bed,
again. She still had no idea why she’d kicked him out. The reactions he
elicited in her were beyond confusing for her.
After
the snooze went off she reluctantly got up and headed for the bathroom. Twenty
minutes later she was dressed and ready for the day. Her hair was pulled back
at the base of her neck in a clip. It was getting really long, maybe she should
cut it, checking her watch she walked to the connecting door and opened it. She
peered into the dark room, “Dom?” She called softly.
“Huh
hmm what?” A voice answered.
“You
have forty-five minutes.” She said, “Do you want coffee and room service?”
“Uh…hakabagou…”
He mumbled into his pillow.
“I’ll
take that as a yes.” She flipped on the light, “Good morning.”
He
propped himself up on his elbows and glared at her, “You’re too perky.”
She
smiled, “I’m a morning person.”
He
yawned and sat on the edge of the bed, “Masking it with perkiness isn’t going
to make it go away.” He said while yawning again.
Her
heart skipped, “So umm what do you want for breakfast?” She asked.
Getting
up he stopped as he walked by her, “You hurt him you know.”
“So
a bagel then?” She gulped.
“If
you don’t talk to him I’m going to make life very difficult for you.” He called
over his shoulder before shutting his bathroom door.
She
gulped again and thought about the night before. Her skin turned to gooseflesh
as she remembered his touch. Oh this wasn’t good. She flopped back onto her
unmade bed and buried her face into the pillow; it smelled like him, “Fuck!”
She flung the pillow onto the floor. Running a hand over her face she picked up
the phone and ordered Dom some room service. She glanced over at the itinerary;
there it was everyone’s room number. She sighed, what really was wrong with
her?
He
had just finished brushing his teeth and was in the process of trying to figure
out what to do with his hair. He hated it this length because it required
actual styling. Staring at himself in the mirror he tried to forget her, but he
couldn’t. It was like some sort of fucking trance, honestly what the hell was
wrong with him?
The
knock was so soft he thought he must have imagined it. Leaving his shirt
unbuttoned he pulled the door open without checking figuring it was Kyle. Her
gasp made him look up, “What the fuck are you doing here?” He said a little
harsher then he’d expected.
She
looked down, “I’m a complete bitch.” She said to her feet.
“Can’t
argue with you there.” He agreed then stepped aside, “You might as well come
in.”
She
slowly walked passed him, he didn’t miss where her eyes lingered and smiled to himself.
Well even if she had kicked him out he definitely still had some sort of affect
on her. “To what do I owe the pleasure? I’m sorry but I can’t fuck at the
moment, have an interview in an hour and all. Did you come to leave me money
for last night?” His words came out harsh and sarcastic and at the moment he
didn’t care. She’d hurt him.
The
harshness of his tone made her head jerk up, she stared at him for a minute
then sighed, “Okay I deserved that.” She conceded, “But why did you come to my
room to begin with?”
“I
told you I don’t know.” He had to keep some distance between them she was
making his palms sweat.
“You
have to know.” She insisted, “It’s not like you made a wrong fucking turn.”
“Well
that’s where you’re wrong. I don’t know. I don’t have a fucking clue why you
drive me so insane. I don’t know why after two years I couldn’t get you out of
my head.” He ranted, “I don’t fucking know shit.”
She
grabbed his shirt and pulled him to her, “I don’t either.” She growled against
his mouth.
“You’re
fucking infuriating you know that.” He said to her a few minutes later forcing
distance between them.
She
shrugged and looked at her watch, “I gotta go.”
“So
that’s it?” He asked.
She
eyed him then grabbed his face and kissed him hard again, “For now.” She smiled
and nibbled his lip before stepping back. “Must work and all.”
He
put a hand up to his mouth after she left, “That woman drives me crazy” He
muttered.
She kept her hand lightly on his arm allowing him a couple of minutes
with each interviewer as he weaved his way down the red carpet. She’d tap his
arm twice when he needed to wrap up. Seeing a large quantity of fans up ahead
she whispered in his ear, “If you go now you’ve got ten minutes for
autographs.” Still maintaining eye contact with the woman who was interviewing
him Dom took a step towards Dylan letting her know he’d heard.
“Ten minutes?” He asked walking briskly with her to the throng of girls
with hands pushed forward.
She nodded then stepped back so she wasn’t in anyone’s picture. She’d
already managed to figure out rather quickly where to stand to be out of the
way but still near him. She felt Elijah’s fingers on the small of her back. She
knew it was him because of the electricity that shot through her. Hearing him
speak sweetly to a girl in the crowd she didn’t turn around, but smiled knowing
he could see her.
“Oh I date here and there but I haven’t got anyone serious at the
moment.” Dom said with a smile at the interviewer, “Why, are you asking me for
a date?”
The woman blushed, “N-no it’s just a question I have to ask. Our readers
want to know these sorts of things.”
Billy laughed, “We’re single and ready to mingle!”
Torrie groaned where she was standing next to Dylan, “I really need to
prove we aren’t related.”
Dylan grinned, “That cousin of yours is so adorable he can pull a line
like that off.”
“It’s annoying isn’t it?” Torrie agreed with a smile.
“Hey Dylan.” A voice said over her shoulder.
She turned and smiled up at him, “Hey Orlando how are you?”
“I’m fine, listen you don’t know where this tent is do you?” He showed
her a name on a card he had.
She looked through some of the papers with her, “Four tents over. I
think they’re talking to Sir. Ian now.”
“You’re a gem D thanks.” He patted her arm, “Hey Torrie.” He waved at
the other girl then headed over to his other interview.
“Hey Orli.” Torrie waved back then sighed and started chewing on the end
of her pen, “That man is just too sexy for words.”
Dylan nodded, “Yeah he’s hot.”
“But sometimes hobbits are better.” Torrie said with a smile.
“Is there anybody here who doesn’t know about that?” Dylan asked with a
sigh.
“It’s hard to hide the insane chemistry you two have.” Torrie said,
“Although I was talking about me too.”
Dylan looked at her, “You have a crush on Lij?”
She shook her head vigorously, “Oh no, not that hobbit.”
“Dom?” Dylan was incredulous, when Torrie blushed she had to smile,
“Well isn’t that an interesting development.”
“You can’t say anything to him though.” Torrie hissed as the interview
finished up.
“You have my word.” Dylan promised as the guys headed over to them
waiting to find out where they were to go next.
He was leaning up against the wall with his eyes closed a smoke hanging
out of his mouth. She sighed, “Are you trying to make this difficult for me?”
He opened an eye inhaled slowly then pulled the cigarette away from his
lips, “Make what difficult for you?” He asked as the smoke poured out over his
lips.
She hugged her arms around her and licked her own lips, “You are
absolutely the most frustrating person I’ve ever met.”
“We’ve never really talked has this dawned on you?” He asked smiling
slightly. “Baring that in mind I fail to see how I can be so frustrating.”
“I can’t explain it.” She said with a shrug, “You just I don’t know…”
“I just you don’t know? Good articulation there Dylan.” He laughed.
She looked at her watch and sighed, “As stimulating…” She inhaled, “Bad
choice of words…umm as interesting as this conversation is I have to get back
to work.”
Checking his own watch he pushed away from the wall, “Me too.” He walked
with her in silence for a minute then went left while she went right. “See ya
later Dylan.” He called.
She looked over her shoulder and smiled at him, “Bye Lij.”
Torrie was talking with Billy and Dom as the camera crew for that
interview got ready. Dom was trying to get his mic clipped properly but it
wasn’t working. Dylan came up and took hold of it, adjusting the wire attached
to the pack that was clipped to his jeans she took the mic and arranged it on
his shirt properly. “Can I keep you after this junket?” He asked, “You come in
handy.”
She laughed, “It’s my job dear. You have a half hour break after this,
don’t go far though cause I think some teeny mag is going to be taking pictures
of you eating or something.”
He rolled his eyes, “Oh good cause that’s not at all intimidating.” He
pretended to take little bites of imaginary food, “Hullo Billy are you enjoying
your meal?”
Billy laughed and took a little sip of his imaginary drink, “Why yes
Dominic this meal is rather good.”
“I as well am enjoying my meal.”
“Aren’t we lucky to be provided with such food?”
“Yes Billy we are lucky.”
Pretending to tear up Billy sniffed, “It’s just so wonderful the
opportunities I have.”
“It’s okay mate.” Dom patted his friend’s arm, “Let it all out have a
good cry.”
“You guys are too much.” Torrie said with a laugh.
“Oh you love us.” Dom grinned.
She smiled, “I love Billy, he’s my cuz. You on the other hand have to
win me over.”
“Well then I just might do that.” He flirted, “Beware though, I’m considered
a hot commodity right now. You might have to beat off all of my other admirers.”
“Good thing I know karate then.” Torrie flirted back.
Dylan looked over her shoulder, “Looks like they’re about ready.”
“Anything specific for lunch cuz?” Torrie asked.
Billy shook his head, “Just food I’m absolutely famished.”
As if anticipating Dylan’s questions Dom agreed, “Me too.”
“Food for lunch. Got it.” She said with a smile.
The two women stood in line at a cafeteria table chatting amicably.
“Mind if I join you ladies?” Orlando asked.
“Well I usually don’t condone butting, but since you have such a nice
one I’ll let it pass this time.” Dylan laughed.
“I don’t even have a butt.” He responded with a grin.
“Yes you do.” Dylan insisted, “I’ve seen that episode of Midsummer
Murders.”
He blushed and looked down, “Oh yeah that. Wait a minute…” He looked up
again, “How did you get that?”
Dylan laughed, “Remember Emma?”
He thought for a second then smiled again, “The woman I scared at the
airport?”
“The one and the same, she downloaded that episode and MADE me watch
that shot. So I have it on good authority that you actually do have a nice
butt.”
“I’ll take your word on that.” He relented.
The three walked over to an empty table and sat. Dylan and Torrie leaned
two chairs forward in an effort to save Billy and Dom a seat. Orlando watched
them organize the two guy’s food and sighed, “I really need to get me mate Andy
to take notes from you two. Such thorough assistants you are.”
“We could teach a class.” Torrie offered.
“The how to pamper a star class?” He laughed.
“Not to be confused with the ‘how to kiss a star’s ass’ class.” Dylan
grinned. “There’s a fine line.”
“That there is…” Elijah agreed, “Mind if I join you?”
Orlando moved the chair beside him back, “By all means mate.”
“Cheers.” Elijah said as he sat.
Dylan just watched him and marveled at the affect he had over her. She couldn’t get away from it and she was slowly loosing the will to fight it anymore. Slowly.
