Who in bloody hell is banging on me door at
this ungodly hour? The green light of my alarm clock is blinking 8:12 at me. Whoever
is at the door better be in bloody pain or I’ll make sure they are.
“If it isn’t my favourite girl!” The man kissed
me before I had a chance to even adjust my eyes to bright sun. “You’re a
gorgeous bird love, but mouthwash might be a good idea.” He laughed.
“Sod off Dom!” I groaned only he would be that
blunt and forward after waking me up. “Why are you here?”
“Depositing your house guest.” He said.
“Sorry?”
“Don’t tell me the fucker didn’t tell you.”
“No he told me but I thought he was coming
tomorrow.” I’ve never woken up so fast in my life.
“Change of plans love. I need to be on a plane
in three hours and me cousin needs my flat. So you get the yank early. Don’t
worry much though, seems he buggered himself up right nice last night. He’ll
sleep most of the day.” Dom explained as he dropped some bags in my front hall.
“Where is he then?”
Turning around he groaned, “Fuck he fell asleep
again.” He laughed then promptly walked to the car and pulled open the
passenger side door. Elijah fell out in a lump and then didn’t move. “Right get
up you daft bugger.” Dom pulled Elijah’s arm up and draped it around his
shoulder. I just watched him drag the man into my front hall, “Where do I drop
him then?”
“There on the sofa.” I pointed at the place
where the blanket Orli had used was still lying.
He literally did drop him, face first, leaving
one leg dangling down, onto the sofa, “Right I’m off. Have fun then love. Give
me a ring one of these days.” Dom kissed my cheek and was gone.
“Cheers.” I waved after him then slowly made my
way to the couch. There he was, my crush in the flesh…ugh…drooling on my sofa.
Right then, must at least get him in a comfortable position. I tried to turn
him round and pull him up so that his head was on the pillow and his feet were
both on the sofa.
He woke up slightly and smiled at me through
sleepy eyes. He mumbled something that I couldn’t understand then pulled my
face down and kissed my lips. Seconds later he was sleeping again. I touched my
tingling lips. Did that actually happen? Shaking myself back into reality I
placed the comforter over him. I resisted the urge to run my fingers over his
absolutely beautiful face and left the room. This is going to be an interesting
few days.
There was no way I was going back to sleep
after that so you want to know what I did? Well I’ll tell you anyway. I baked.
Not only did I bake I baked a shite load of things. I was working on chocolate
cupcakes after making banana bread, chocolate chip cookies and brownies when he
woke up.
He stumbled into the kitchen looking all
dishevelled and sexy to stare at me blankly. “Who are you?” He asked, then
looked around, “Where’s Dom?”
I wiped my hands on a dish towel then extended one
to him, “I’m Sophia…uh…Bloom and Dom is probably on a plane over some ocean I’d
imagine.”
He looked confused then rubbed his head, “Do
you have any coffee?” He asked.
“Right.” I turned to get it and heard him slump
into one of the chairs that were by the island.
“You’re Orli’s cousin right?” He finally said
after the coffee had started brewing.
I merely nodded. “Yes.”
He yawned and ran a hand over his face, “What
are you making? The smell woke me up.”
“Oh I’m sorry.”
He finally smiled, “Don’t be it smells
delicious.”
“Thank you, it’s just a mix of things really.”
“Whatever it is I hope I get to taste it.”
Mercy those eyes are intoxicating.
“Of course.”
He watched the coffee brew for a moment then
stood up, “While I wait for that would you mind if I took a shower? I feel
fucking disgusting.”
I nodded again, “Your bags are in the front
hall and the bathroom is down that corridor second door on the left.”
“Thank you Sophia.” He said softly then went to
get his bags. OH how I love the way that man says my name.
As he was showering I realized I had to go in
to work after it closed that night to do some paper work. Since I’d been at the
club the night before I needed a shower as well. They say we need to conserve
water…no Sophia be good do not try to shag the lad his first night there. Wait till
his second. I was smiling at my own little inside joke when I heard him return
to the kitchen.
“Okay, now I feel good enough to eat
something.” He said.
I turned around and almost forgot to breathe.
He smelled like heaven, the just showered kind of heaven, and looked absolutely
delectable in the jeans he had on earlier and a white t-shirt. “Help yourself.”
I managed to choke out as I pointed at the different containers holding baked
goods.
“Thanks.” He smiled…oh…god. “Where are you
coffee cups?” I merely pointed at the cupboard behind me. He laughed, “I could
reach over you if you’d like, but we have just met. Besides my hair is still
damp, wouldn’t want to drip water on you.”
Mind…crawl…out…of…the…gutter. I licked my lips
and turned to grab a mug then handed it to him, “Cream is in the fridge and
sugar in the cupboard over the coffeemaker.” I explained, “Make yourself at
home.”
“Thanks again.”
“Quite welcome. I’m going to…” I cleared my
throat, “…shower as well. I have to go to work for a couple of hours tonight.”
“Really?” He asked as he situated himself in
front of his coffee cup and a chocolate chip cookie. “Where do you work?” How
could he act all casual when he was so damn sexy?
“At the Gap. I’m a manager. There’s just some
paper work I have to attend to.”
“Mind if I tag along?” He asked between bites,
“I don’t have anything up till tomorrow morning and I’d like to get out for a
bit.”
“Uh…umm…sure. It might be boring though.” Was
he serious?
He shrugged, “I’ll look around the store to keep
myself entertained.”
“Okay…well then I’ll be ready in a few
minutes.”
“Take your time I’ll just sit here drink coffee
and eat these damn good cookies.” He grinned.
“The paper has probably arrived.” I offered as
I left the room, “It’ll be by the front door.”
“Go shower Sophia I’ll be fine.” He called with
a laugh. I’m going to hurt my cousin for putting my hormones through this hell.
He didn’t say anything more till we got into
the car. “Have we met before?” He finally asked, “You look somewhat familiar.”
It was safe to assume he didn’t remember much
about last night at all. I decided to go the secure route, “We met at the
Fellowship press junkets. I was the one forced to follow the elf.”
He laughed, “That explains why I didn’t
remember, I’ve met a hell of a lot of people since then.”
I merely nodded not really knowing what to say.
Just then my newest favourite song came on the radio. I turned it up, “I love
this song.” It was ‘Yeah!’ by Usher.
All of a sudden my passenger crouched lower in
his seat and covered his face, “Oh god.” He groaned turning an interesting
shade of crimson, “I met you last night.” I didn’t catch on at first then
realized that this had been the song Shaz had played when he’d introduced me.
I tried to smile at him reassuringly even though
he wasn’t giving me eye contact, “It’s all right.”
He peeked out from his fingers, which made me laugh. He looked so damn cute when he was embarrassed. “I didn’t do anything really stupid did I?” He asked.
“Nah, you just tried to guess where we’d met.”
I didn’t mention anything else and he sure as hell wasn’t hearing about that
kiss this morning from me.
“Then why are you laughing at me?” He asked
sitting up and raising an eyebrow at me a smirk playing on his lips.
“Because you look hilarious all slumped up in
me car bright red like a tomato.” If we hadn’t made it to the parking lot I
would have had to pull over because I was laughing so hard.
He huffed, “I don’t know if I like you laughing
at me I did just meet you.”
“Sucks to be you then.” I said with a grin. “I
figure everyone is on this earth for me to mock at some point.” I patted his
arm as I got out of the car, “Your just unlucky enough to meet me so I can do
it in person.”
“Ah so YOU’RE why Orli’s not his own biggest
fan.” He said with a chuckle as he put a cig in his mouth and lit it. He took a
long drag then continued as we walked toward the building, “In New Zealand we
were always trying to figure out why he didn’t act all full of himself.”
I laughed because it had to cover the shudder
going through my body at that point. Did he have any idea what he was doing to
me?? “Yes and let me tell you it’s a full time job harnessing that ego. If he
didn’t have me his brain would have swollen to the point of making him float.”
“We all have to have our causes.” He conceded
as we entered the building. It was a few minutes before closing so there were a
few people still milling around the store. I did a cursory check and sure
enough there were a couple of girls I didn’t need see him.
I took his arm without thinking to ask and
whispered in his ear, “I’m not really in the mood to disinfect claw marks on
your body so look down and follow me. Don’t speak.”
He chuckled and nodded turning into me he
whispered back, “Just tell me when the coast is clear.”
Inhale exhale Sophia you can do this. I nodded
at Natalia who was thankfully the one closing. “Right.” I guided him to the
back door and managed to get him through it without incident.
Thus started my friendship with Elijah Wood.
His stay went from two days to four to a week to the point where I told him not
to bother with his own flat. We’d gotten ourselves into a routine and Orli
didn’t seem to care one way or the other.
Whenever he came home Lij would sleep on the sofa.
I’d LOVE to say that Lij and I fell in love or
at least go to shag, but alas such isn’t the case, roommates is how we started
and friends is where we stayed at that time he didn’t seem at all interested
and I wasn’t about to sell meself. Besides we’d found a routine that worked for
us.
If you believe any of that shite you’re
gullible. I wanted the man, I wanted him to fancy me and frankly after the
second week I started to wonder if I was ugly or something, because he didn’t
seem to notice me as more than just Orlando’s cousin. Right pain in the arse me
cuz is let me tell you. Then again I suppose I have told you.
I could leave this here, but that’s not the
end…I was living with two poster boys after all, life was never boring.
