Chapter Five
DreamInColour © 2004
Okay
so we’re at the drunken chapter, where do we start?
It’s not going to be the whole chapter now, just the
fun part.
Can I put my vote in for the dancing?
You really can’t forget that can you?
You’ve got moves love, can’t help it if I like to
watch.
You’re a sick man you know that.
Then why are you smiling and I wasn’t watching the
whole time was I?
Shut up.
*numerous hours and drinks later*
“MY GOD I love this song!” Jessie called from her perch on Billy’s lap.
Megan had found the CD amongst the many Orlando had next to the system
in his rec room in the basement. She laughed, “Gotta love Jamaica mon.”
“I’d give anything to know how to dance like the girls in that video.”
Braedon mused. She was sitting on one of the huge chairs.
Orlando was sitting on the arm of the chair he looked down at her with a
smile, “You could learn.”
“Right. Copy the video I don’t think so.”
“Hey my roommate used to work at the studio that did that routine I
could teach you some stuff.” Megan offered. She hadn’t really talked to the girls
much having maintained a steady flirtation with Elijah and Dom. Both of who
were playing ping pong in the game area of the room.
“You can do that?” Braedon asked somewhat nervously.
“Sure.” Megan smiled, “If you want to learn I can teach. The guys will
like it. Trust me.”
Braedon looked up at Orlando who winked at her, “Umm.”
“Here.” Jessie handed Braedon a shot “Take this.”
“Why?” Braedon took the glass and sniffed, her nose curled at the scent.
“Cause then you’ll learn, come on.” Jessie laughed and indicated the
shot she had for her self.
Braedon shrugged, her day couldn’t have gotten weirder so why not. She
knocked it back and stood. “So teach us.”
Megan laughed and took each of their arms pulling them into the emptiest
part of the room. Billy rubbed his hands with glee and leaned forward with his
elbows on his knees so he could watch. Orlando slid slowly into the vacated
seat and tried to shake the fuzziness out of his head. He needed to start on
water or he was gonna be gone for the rest of the night. He went upstairs to
grab a bottle.
“Dom look.” Elijah let the ball fly past his head.
“MY POINT!” Dom called with a laugh and took another drink of his beer
for emphasis.
“Don’t care.” Elijah put the paddle down and flopped down on the sofa
next to Billy.
“That means that I win…” Dom’s voice trailed off, “Damn.” He muttered
and pulled himself up on the ping-pong table so he could sit and watch.
If Braedon hadn’t been as inebriated as she was she’d have been mighty
embarrassed that she was being watched, not only was she being watched but it
was by some very attractive members of the opposite sex who happened to be
famous. She concentrated on the music and the words that Megan was saying into
her ear. Jessie, having taken dance when she was young, caught on to the
routine a lot quicker than Braedon so she was doing her own thing while Braedon
learned.
When Orlando came downstairs with his second bottle of water he almost
dropped it. He leaned onto the wall at the bottom of the stairs in an effort to
stop himself from sliding to the floor. Megan was right behind Braedon with her
hands on the girl’s hips trying to help her move with the music.
Braedon sighed, “I just don’t get that part.”
Megan smiled, “That’s fine we’ll go from the beginning then. Jessie you
ready?”
“Always.” Jessie laughed she flipped the song back then grabbed Braedon
so she was in between her and Megan.
The three girls went through a sexy routine that had the guys almost
clapping if they weren’t trying to remember how to blink. Finally Billy
couldn’t take it he jumped up and grabbed Jessie by the waist pulling her to
him, “You’ve got rhythm woman.”
She grinned, “Don’t I know it.” She wrapped her arms around his neck,
“Show me how you move hobbit.”
Megan motioned to Dom and Elijah who greedily joined her both trying to
dance to the same rhythm as her. “You’ve got some moves here blue eyes.” She
teased the man in front of her.
He grinned, “The boyish look can be deceiving.”
“Can it ever.” Megan said grinding her hips into his.
Dom wasn’t really paying attention he was dancing to his own tune
occasionally grabbing Megan’s behind as he went.
I
wish we could have had video of that he was so funny.
He always dances like that when he’s drunk.
I know that and you know that but they don’t do they
baby?
True, now you must be quiet we’re getting to the good
part.
From what I remember that really was the best part of
the night.
That it was.
Braedon was decidedly feeling quite left out of the whole thing so she tried
to get her way out of the middle of all those dancing without being hit in the
head. She backed up and tripped over Dom’s foot falling face first into
Orlando’s chest.
He put an arm around her to steady her then chuckled, “Now this reminds
me of when we first met.”
She looked up at him and inhaled slowly she steadied herself and put her
hands on his shoulder, “Can I say something?”
“Sure.”
“You’re fucking gorgeous.”
He threw his head back and laughed, “You’re drunk.”
“Either way I’m not blind, my god.” She put her head on his shoulder, “I
can’t even look at you it’s too much.”
He chuckled and put both hands on her hips, “What move was giving you
troubles then?” He asked into her ear.
Keeping her head on his shoulder she moved her hips slowly to the music,
“Can’t seem to keep the beat.” She said back.
He moved with her and laughed, “You aren’t doing a bad job from where
I’m standing.”
Orlando
behave yourself. You know every time we tell that part of the story he gets all
hot and bothered.
Can’t
help it you were so innocent and cute.
I
still am.
Not
so innocent anymore love.
That’s
not my fault now is it?
Again
I can’t help I’m so…
Say
it with me folks…Shut up!
Braedon didn’t think she’d ever been so comfortable. Her head was
pounding and her mouth felt like it held sandpaper, but man was she
comfortable. She snuggled into the blankets a bit more opening her eyes only
when she heard footsteps go by the door. That’s when it hit her; those
footsteps didn’t belong to Uncle Keith. She wasn’t in her room she was at
Orlando’s house, in…damnit…his room. She knew it was his room because he was
peacefully sleeping next to her. She inhaled and exhaled a couple times then
slowly looked under the covers. She breathed a sigh of relief they were both
clothed.
She heard noises in the kitchen and decided it was time to wake up. She
needed to regain some of her dignity and figure out how she’d gotten into this
bizarre surreal situation. She shivered as she slowly exited the bed looking
around the room she located a hoodie of his and decided he wouldn’t mind if she
borrowed it. She slipped it over her head and quietly left the room and headed
to the kitchen.
“Morning Braedon.” Elijah said with a smile he had a cigarette hanging
out of his mouth and was making coffee. “Don’t tell Orli.” He indicated the
smoke.
She smiled, “Morning Lij.” She opened the sliding glass doors in an
effort to air out the kitchen, “Not a word.”
He nodded and handed her his glass of orange juice, “What are you doing
up so early?” He reached for another glass and poured more juice for himself.
“I heard footsteps outside the room and it woke me up.” She said, “It
sounded like someone was leaving.”
His expression was rather stoic, “Megan.”
“You umm didn’t…I mean…” She stuttered, “I’m sorry that’s none of my
business.”
“It’s not but I don’t mind sharing. No I didn’t umm with Megan.” He said
with a grin, “I actually ended up sleeping on the couch with Jessie. Don’t
remember how that happened and before you ask no I didn’t umm with your friend
either.”
Braedon threw a dishtowel at him and chuckled, “Well that’s good to
know. Then why did she leave?”
Elijah cleared his throat, “She usually clears out in the morning.
Especially if her and Dom…umm.” He laughed, “Course I don’t think he did cause
from what I could see this morning he was under the ping pong table mumbling in
his sleep.”
“So if it wasn’t her and Dom then…” Braedon trailed off.
“Orli or Billy I guess.” Elijah said with a shrug, “She’s not really
picky, as long as it’s one of us.”
“Doesn’t that bother you at all?” Braedon asked.
“Yeah well it bothers me, that’s why I’ve never done anything except
flirt with her. When she’s sober she’s actually cool to talk to and quite
intelligent. She just doesn’t think so and when she’s drunk she’s hornier than
hell.” He shrugged, “and I can’t control what my friends do.”
“That just strikes me as odd that they would find that necessary.”
“Sometimes it’s not cause you find it necessary but it’s just you’re
there and they’re there so why not.” He shrugged again, “Anyway to each his
own, if she managed to get Billy or Orli then I guess she can add another
notch.”
“Billy.” Braedon said as she took a sip of her coffee.
“Pardon.”
“If it was anyone it was Billy.”
“How do you know?” Elijah asked with a small smirk playing on his lips.
“I…” Braedon cleared her throat, “woke up with Orlando.” She whispered.
Elijah laughed, “Did you now? Well then you got further than Megan ever
did with our elvish princeling.”
“I didn’t get anywhere.” Braedon protested, “We just uh slept.”
“Is ‘uh slept’ the same as ‘umm’?” Elijah asked then ducked outside with
a laugh before she could chuck the dishcloth at him as well.
So
THAT’S what you and Lij were talking about in the kitchen that morning.
I told you it was nothing.
Yeah but that never means it actually IS nothing.
You are such a girl sometimes baby, besides it was
your friend Lij that got you out of some major shit with…
You know I think we should let the story continue now…
Wuss.
“Why is it that I was dancing with the Scot last night
I distinctly remember falling asleep on blue eyes and now I’m wearing this
lug?” Jessie sounded like she was grumbling but her smile gave her away.
Dom had his arms around her neck and was basically using her to stand
up, “Don’t know love, you complaining?”
“As long as no one calls me the Fellowship slut I’ll be fine.”
“Wouldn’t dream of calling you that love.” He grinned at her, “Gotta do
the crime before you get the title.”
“Keep dreaming dirty man.” She deposited him on one of the chairs where
promptly dropped his forehead on the table in front of him. Jessie eyed her
friend, “Where did you end up?”
“With me.” Orlando was leaning against the wall with a smirk on his
face. His hair was all over the place from having been slept on. He rubbed his
chin and winked at Braedon, “I thought you pulled a runner on me.”
“A runner?” Braedon looked at Jessie for explanation her friend just
shrugged.
Dom laughed into the table, “Result of a one night stand, one of the
parties leaves before the other wakes up…does a runner.”
Braedon could feel the heat in her face so she knew she was blushing,
“Yeah well we didn’t…so I didn’t uh…”
Orlando laughed, “Oh good I wasn’t that drunk then. I was gonna feel bad
if I forgot,” He walked into the kitchen and leaned over Braedon to grab a mug
from the cupboard behind, “thought I might have to ask for a repeat performance
to jog me memory.”
Braedon’s face was scarlet she was sure of it. She could hear Jessie and
Dom snicker but she didn’t want to take her eyes off of the man in front of
her, “You’re evil.” She breathed.
He smiled, “So I’ve been told.”
I
think we should just leave it here.
We are NOT going to leave it here they won’t get the
full story then.
Can’t we just say that we fell in love there and life
was lived happily ever after?
Well we can but that would be lying and we all know
that I hate lying.
I didn’t lie love I just…
…didn’t tell the truth.
No I didn’t think it was relevant.
The fact that you actually HAD a girlfriend wasn’t relevant
when you were talking about a repeat performance? Methinks the readers might
disagree. We go on.
“Orli!” A voice called from the front door, “You in here hun?”
If there were a medal to hand out for sprinting he would have won it.
One second he was pressed up again Braedon smiling at her the next he was he
over a chair and at the entrance from the hall, “In here!” He called back.
“Shit did you have a party last night, it’s like a damn parking lot out
there.” The woman that came into the room made Braedon feel like the dirtiest
ingrate on the planet.
She smiled
at Jessie and Braedon, “Oh hello I don’t think I’ve met you two before…” She
outstretched her hand, “I’m Kate and you are?” She was speaking to Braedon
because she was closest.
“Kate! I haven’t seen you in forever!” Elijah came in through the screen
door scaring Orlando who looked like a deer caught in headlights, “This is my
girlfriend Braedon.”
“G-girlfriend?” Braedon looked at him, he smiled which made her feel
better so she turned to the intimidatingly beautiful blonde and took her
outstretched hand, “Yeah that’s me Braedon the girlfriend it’s nice to meet you
Kate.”
Kate shook Braedon’s hand firmly and smiled, “Guess that makes me Kate
the girlfriend…” She indicated Orlando over her shoulder. His face was
completely perplexed his eyes were pleading with Braedon to understand.
She didn’t but she wasn’t going to say anything, besides they’d only
been harmlessly flirting. She took Elijah’s hand and squeezed it happy for his
intervention he winked at her before lacing his fingers with hers.
Jessie stepped up, “Hi I’m Jessie, Braedon’s best friend out for a
visit.”
Kate smiled at her too, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Jessie, don’t tell
me you were stuck with that one over there.” She indicated Dom who was still
slumped on the chair.
“Shut it Kate.” He continued to mumble into the table, “Jessie loves
me.”
Jessie rolled her eyes, “He wishes.”
Kate laughed and walked over to loop an arm around Orlando’s waist,
“Surprised?” She asked then kissed him lightly.
He gulped, “Definitely.” He put an arm around her and forced a smile,
“It’s good to see you.”
“You too.” She messed his hair, “Looks like you just got up.”
Braedon thought she was going to be sick. They looked like Ken and Barbie
standing there the perfect examples of each gender. Elijah, who was rapidly
turning into her favourite person, cleared his throat, “Well we should probably
get going shouldn’t we babe?” He asked her.
She nodded, “Uh, yeah I need to change and have some breakfast.”
“Right. I’ll take you back to the hotel then.” He smiled at her
reassuringly, “You coming with guys?” He asked Dom and Jessie.
Jessie nodded because wherever Braedon went she went, “Of course, hey
where’s Billy?”
“Left early, had to catch a flight.” Dom mumbled as he tried to stand,
“Ah me head.”
Jessie rolled eyes, “Oh come here you big baby.” She looped his arm
around her shoulder and put her arm around his waist, “I’ll help you out to the
car it was good meeting you Kate.”
“You too Jessie.” Kate laughed, “Braedon I hope to see you around with
this guy. Although I’d call it more babysitting than dating.” She said pinched
Elijah’s arm. He yelped and stuck his tongue out at her.
Braedon forced out a laugh trying to find the humour in this; “I could
say the same for you.”
“You’re right you probably could.” Kate squeezed Orlando’s side, “That’s
okay though I’ll keep him.”
“Me too.” Braedon smiled when Elijah squeezed her hand and pulled her
arm around his waist, “How long are you going to be out here? We should get
together before you leave.” She couldn't believe she'd just said that.
Orlando, who still had yet to speak, was stunned and even more perplexed
than before. Kate nodded, “That sounds good I’m here till Wednesday, we’ll keep
in touch.”
“Definitely, I work with the goomba here on set so we can relay info
between him.” Braedon indicated Orlando still not giving him eye contact.
A honk of the horn made Elijah jump “Looks like the natives are restless
babe we should go.”
Kate walked with Orlando to the door, “Nice to meet you Braedon I hope
to see you again before I leave.” She shook her hand again.
Braedon gulped but continued to smile, “Nice to meet you too Kate.” She
waved then followed Elijah out the door.
Okay
I’m depressed that was so mean I didn’t want to have to relive that morning. I
felt like a first class shit.
Oh baby you weren’t a first class shit…you were just a
shit.
I still can’t believe you went along with that dating
Lij thing.
Why wouldn’t I he’s beautiful sweet and he comforted
me.
I still maintain that it all happened so fast I
couldn’t catch up, besides you didn’t have to turn him saving you into a
relationship with him.
Yeah well what else was I going to do? You were
apparently right off the market having Barbie with the perfect personality.
You could have let me explain.
Probably, but that would have been too simple I’m a
girl we don’t do things simply.
You have that right.
Okay we’re getting ahead of ourselves people are
confused let’s back it up.
I don’t like the next part…
Too bad…cope.
“Are you okay?” Elijah asked Braedon who was standing
on the front porch trying to catch her breath.
She nodded, “I’m fine.”
“Good, now he’s looking out the window we should go.” He kept hold of
her hand.
“Wait.” Braedon said she pulled him back to her and kissed him,
“Thanks.” She said against his mouth.
He licked his lips and thought for a second, “You are uh welcome.” The
honking persisted, “We should really go.”
“Right.” She agreed and then finally as she followed behind him she
looked back at the window by the front door. Orlando was shaking his head; she
shrugged at him then kept her steps with Elijah and walked down the pathway out
of his view.
That
was even crueller than make me live through the first part.
Oh quit whining you big baby! Besides I spent a bit of
time with Lij in the months following and you know that.
I do but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Listen buster you were TAKEN I was sure not going to
sit around and hope beyond hope you’d come to me on a white horse for the love
of everything holy.
Well still why one of me best mates?
As I have previously stated because he is absolutely
gorgeous, wonderful and charming.
I had to ask.
“So where does she work?” Kate asked once the door had
shut.
Orlando shook his head trying to regain whatever composure he could
muster. He really needed help, that’s it. What was his problem? He had a
girlfriend, a wonderful, gorgeous girlfriend why oh WHY was he jealous because
all of a sudden…were they serious? He couldn’t get the image of Braedon kissing
Elijah out of his head.
“Orli? Hunny? You in there?” Kate waved her hand in front oh his face.
“Huh oh what?” He couldn’t think about this now or she’d get suspicious.
Suspicious of what he hadn’t done anything…had he?
“Braedon, Elijah’s girlfriend…where does she work?” Kate repeated the
question with a smile, “You must have drank a lot last night huh?”
He finally regained some composure and smiled at her, “Just a bit. Her
uncle is our set designer and she came out to balance his books for him.”
“Is she going to Morocco with you guys next week?” They had made their
way back into the kitchen.
“I don’t know.” Orlando was all of a sudden worried, what if she
wasn’t…he didn’t really like the idea of not going to her trailer for his
lunches. Honestly what was wrong with him?
“Well either way she was sweet, we really should go out with her and Lij
before I have to leave again.”
“Uh yeah…yeah we should.” He agreed. What in the world made her suggest
that? This Braedon character was making him way too flustered and he didn’t
like it.
Can
I just interject and say that’s because you liked the fact that I drooled all
over you and in one moment you thought you’d lost that.
No you can’t interject cause that’s not true, I was
confused.
Fine confused can we move on?
Dom and Jessie had got tired waiting so Jessie revved
the jeep and waved at the two calling, “We’ll see you at the hotel!” Dom just
stuck his arm up and moved his fingers; his face was firmly planted on the
dashboard in front of him.
When Braedon and Elijah got to his vehicle he asked,
“What was the kiss for?”
“I wanted to thank you and that was the best way I could think of to do
it.” She said with a shrug, “I’m sorry if I offended you.”
“You didn’t offend me Braedon not at all I just don’t want to be used to
make Orlando jealous.” He said when they got into his car.
“Then why did you introduce me was your girlfriend?”
“I honestly don’t know it seemed like the right thing to do at the time.
I was right outside and heard everything he said to you and it pissed me off.
He had no right leading you on like that so I wanted to make you feel better
when you met Kate cause I knew you’d probably feel like a pile of shit.”
Braedon put her hand over his and smiled, “I swear I thought heaven
opened up and angels sang when you came into the kitchen. Honestly Elijah,
thank you.”
He squeezed her hand, “You’re welcome really. Now direct me to your
uncle’s, you’re staying with us at the hotel till Monday.”
I
think I’m going to wretch.
I think you’re going to shut up.
“Okay!” Jessie flopped onto the bed that was in her and Braedon’s room
at the hotel. Braedon had protested the whole way back to her uncle’s that she
didn’t want Elijah to book them a room but he didn’t listen. So she finally
relented.
“Okay what?”
“Don’t give me that. I wake up this morning and I’m not sure but I think
I’m actually sleeping in Elijah Wood’s arms. Then I wake up again and I’m
wearing another hobbit. I go into the kitchen to find out you woke up with
Orlando ‘fuck me I’m hotter then hell’ Bloom and he proceeds to blatantly
seduce you in the kitchen. Next second Kate ‘I’m the perfect equivalent of
Barbie’ Bosworth shows up and then you’re Elijah’s girlfriend. Fill me in I’m
confused.”
Braedon sighed, “You aren’t the only one. Mr. I’m hotter then hell has
been giving me mixed signals all week! I’d read that he was dating Kate but he
sure as hell didn’t act like he was dating anyone so I wasn’t sure.”
“How did you end up Elijah’s girlfriend though…and if you are do you
mind that I woke up with him?”
“I’m not REALLY his girlfriend he just said that to make meeting Kate
easier for me.”
“You kissed him…” Jessie said then held her hand up to stop her friend
from speaking, “Don’t deny it Dom and I saw you! There’s more than just ‘he
saved me from an embarrassing situation’ there and you know it.”
“Fuck Jessie I don’t know shit! Last week I was holed up in a trailer
staring at a computer ruing the day I’d ever listened to my uncle. Now in the matter
of two days I have woken up in bed with Orlando Bloom and kissed Elijah Wood
could we PLEASE let me catch up first before asking me to explain?”
Jessie thought for a moment, “You know when you put it that way I don’t
blame you. Anyway we’re at this hotel with Dom and Lij for two days and two
nights let us go and see what they want to do today. That is of course if Dom
has actually opened his eyes and stopped bitching about his hangover.”
