"These two white wolves are Faolan and Ull. They were both washed ashore Dinotopia as pups when a cargo ship carrying these two crashed. None of the humans from the crash survived. Faolan, though a male, is very protective of all the cubs (as he likes to call them) and would die to protect them if necessary. Ull is the mother figure to all the abandoned, lost and newly arrived hatchlings. She makes sure they have the best of care and the best of new homes.
"If you wish to adopt any of the hatchlings here, then read the rules below and then fill out the form. Ull is very caring and very patient and kind and will respond as soon as she can. Thank you."

A large white wolf strides up to you and suddenly grabs the end of your shirt in her teeth and starts tugging lightly on your shirt. You realize immediaetly that she wants you to follow her. She leads you to a sandbox where she starts growling and barking something to a Compsognatuhus. You look down as the little compy begins to write what the wolf is saying. Ull via the Scribe: Welcome traveler! I am Ull. We have five eggs from which you can choose your future hatchling or partner. We don't know what is inside them, so whatever you choose, the species inside will remain a mystery until they hatch. The first three eggs, the big ones there, were all found around the same spot so we suspect they are the same species. The first two big eggs are females and the last big egg is a male (we know this, of course, becausewe incubate them at certain temperatures to get the male and female). Of the two smaller eggs, two different travelers, like yourself, found them and brought them in and we don't know what species they are either. But the first small egg is male and the last small egg is female. The white wolf stops speaking for a moment as her mate, another white wolf, enters the room silently and sits down beside her. You notice he has a large object hanging out of his mouth. Ull speaks once more and again, the scribe starts writing after the original message has been erased. Ull: This is my mate, Faolan. He has the rules for adopting hatchlings with him and we ask that you read them before you decide to truly adopt.
The male wolf hands you the stone table he has in his mouth. You take it and begin to read.
2. You must name the hatchling. 3. A page with your adopted hatchling will be put up in the records with your name so that all can see what a nice thing you did for the hatchling. 4. You can adopt up to two hatchlings at a time. No more, no less. 5. You must love and care for the hatchling you choose. 6. Other people might have chosen the egg you want first. If they did, then they get it. But the option will be left open to you to choose another egg. If all the eggs are gone, you will be the first one to get to choose from the new batch of eggs. 7. And last: Breathe Deep, Fly High, Run Fast, Seek Peace. At the bottom of the tablet, below the rules, you see what appears to be something scratched in by a claw written in the Footprint alphabet: Eat Chocolate, Seek Chocolate! Ull seems to realize you notice the words on the bottom of the tablet and gives a version of what must be a wolf's laugh. She says something and the scribe translates it.
Ull: One of our raptor friends wrote that. She, like all raptors, has an insatiable hunger for chocolate. So, do you accept the rules? If you do, then choose an egg number and fill out the form. |
