Searching Wanting Afraid
In life, through life, we travel.
Searching for that illusive moment,
Wanting it with all our hearts,
And yet, when found, we are afraid.

We glimpse it briefly on the horizon,
And yet, in that tentative moment, turn away, afraid.
Afraid to touch that most perfect of feelings.
Inevitably we keep searching, wanting to feel its caress.

Locked behind the bars of a gilded cage,
I searched through life.
And, like the phoenix rising from the flames,
That illusive moment rose in me.

No longer searching,
No longer wanting,
No longer afraid...
