The Lake of Eternity

Sitting at the waters edge,
Gazing up into the star filled sky,
The Blue moon hangs in the evening silence,
A shooting star goes flying by.

A glowing mist forms in the distance,
Ripples break the waters calm,
Something this way's moving closer,
My fingers tighten into my palm.
My heartbeat quickens in my chest,
My mouth is dry, I dare not speak,
The silence in my ears is deafening,
Standing, I stumble, my legs are weak.
A whisper from the water beckons,
Its voice is music to my ears,
Soothes and calms my apprehension,
My hesitation disappears.
I walk into the cool dark water,
Your arms they hold and welcome me,
And underneath the crystal heavens,
We are lost in the Lake of Eternity.
For as this lake will last forever,
We will drift along its shore.
And welcome one another always,
Until we've breath to love no more.
