Please find the Updates on New Bombay:
I visited an old age home called Narmada Niketan in Belapur, Sector 8. There are around 70-80 members there. It�s a nice, clean, pleasant and big place. I talked to one Mr.Vaidhya in the office. He says that they don�t encourage much people coming there for help as they have this experience that people come for help and after few weeks leave which makes the old people very emotional and takes them lot of time to overcome the feeling... So we have to make sure that when we start the visits we have enough number of people for random visits...so that there is no day when DI members are absent.
But then after some talks he said he'll let me know tomorrow at 10:30 if they need any help. It looks positive.
I visited a Children� Home in Kharghar called Prem Daan. There are some 70+ children there of different age group. They need some regular teaching help only on weekdays form 3-5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m... On weekends they don�t encourage outsiders. They require clothes, bed sheets, notebooks, shoes, etc. They conduct vocational training for computer related courses, home science related (mehendi, tailoring, beautician etc) and even courses for plumbing, electrician, making agarbattis etc. with a nominal fee.
As I said in previous mail, I had visited some construction children who need some teaching. They were all interested. I have visited them around 3 times and have bought some notebooks and pencils for them. Gave them chocolates and spent some time with them.
Last but not the least I am working on getting more people involved in this which I think would make it convenient to do other tasks. I have mailed lot of people and am going to put up posters this coming week.
