| Chapter One Nick Carter sighed despondently as the meeting adjourned. Life hadn't been the same for him for many months; at least not since he'd started receiving threatening letters. Letters from a stalker. He was constantly looking over his shoulder, wondering if his stalker was in the crowd, watching him, waiting for him. Hopefully the letters would stop, now that they were ready to start a new tour. Nick was brought sharply to the present, as a paper airplane was sailed in his direction; hitting him squarely between the eyes. "Come on Nick. Snap out of it," his best friend, Brian Littrell said as the rest of the group laughed. Brian waited until Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean and Howie Dorough, their three band mates, exited the room. "Want to shoot some hoops? A little one-on-one? I tell ya what, loser buys lunch!" he added; hoping for once Nick would agree. It seemed like lately Nick never went anywhere or did anything, except for work. He stayed close to his house and he'd been turning down invitations for everything, including games with Brian. "No thanks Bri, I have some stuff to do,� he answered vaguely, as he stuffed his belongings into his book bag. "I don't understand you Nick! You never want to go anywhere; do anything. I know something is wrong, but you won't talk. Why? Tell me please," Brian begged.
