These pages just document short bits and pieces about the game as I
have seen it through my character, cause the world sure as hell don't need
another players guide there are more than enough out there.
When I first read about Diablo 2 I was most intruiged about the new
characters you could choose. Now if you are a Diablo fan, you should own
a copy of the original, which only contained 3 characters :
-
Warior
-
Sorceror
-
"bowazon"
The only official expansion pack was Hellfire which initialy added only
1 extra class. But if you did some digging, you could unlock an extra 2
characters, which would bring the tally to 6, including :
The monk was an all new character with his own graphics, but the Barbarian
and bard were recycled, using the Warior and the "Bowazon" graphics, with
altered stats.
I always leaned more towards the magical type characters, especially
after picking up a "Hacked" staff of Armageddon with 255 charges. Now that
spell was powerfull ! After reading that the Sorceres was going to have
the most powerfull magical attacks, my logical conclusion was to go with
her, but then news about the Necromancer surfaced. I thought to myself,
who wants to be a "goody 2 shoes" girl, when u can be an evil raiser of
the dead ! Now that sounded cool !
Be warned though, it is NOT easy being a magical character in the begining
! Especially a Nec, where if you choose the path I took, dumping most of
my points into energy, it takes a DAMN long time for a Golem or skeletons
to kill an enemy ! The better path, would be to share equal points between
Energy and Strength, to wear all that cool armour you pick up. The thing
I enjoyed the most though, is that I did not go through 3 mice as I did
with Diablo I. With a Nec you don't hardly click as much as with a Barbarian,
due to the fact that your golem will end up doing most/ALL of your killing
for you ! All you end up doing is casting Curses on the enimies, and picing
up items. I often found myself openening chests in HELL while 20+ creatures
are humming only a couple of feet away, without a care in the world, cause
they weren't after me, they were after my Golem ; )
But like I said, things get a shit load harder before things get easy.
Try killing Durial with a blood golem and some skeletons, oh I probably
died 10 times, and my golem would only last 2 hits from him and would then
die. That bloody cold spell that he casts, I just couldn't get away fast
enough.
A note for all you would be Necro's out there, don't bother putting
a skill point into poison dagger, it is a waste, rahter put it into skeleton
mastery, or golem mastery, or Iron maiden. You will be needing those skills
ALOT later on.
I will be adding some screenshots of my chars equipment , and more notes
next week (hopefully).
