NEW
DECEMBER 31, 2003
Well, right now is New Years Eve. As of the time that I started writing this sentence, it is two hours and thirty minutes until the start of 2004. This was a typical day with me sitting around the house not doing that much of anything, although later on during the afternoon/evening I went to the mall and then took a drive around that little area of the town. Since I got this car, Ive been pretty much trying to get a feel for it, and what a better way to do that than to just drive around for the heck of it. On Monday, Ive spent hours driving around into unfamiliar parts of the city and getting myself lost (sometimes on purpose). I even went onto the highway and acted as if I was leaving town to go elsewhere. I didnt go that far though. It was actually fun.
Since I didnt fill you in earlier, I might as well rewind a week and tell you how my Christmas went. It was actually pretty nice. I didnt do anything on Christmas Eve except keeping up with the tradition of playing my favorite Sega Saturn game Christmas NiGHTS. I was invited to a party that my mom was involved in at work, but since she failed to give me directions to the destination, I didnt go. Apparently, they wanted me there. Oh well. Since I didnt expect much in the way of gifts, I didnt stay up during the final hours of Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. I decided to go ahead and go to bed. I woke up the next day at round 7:00 am I think. That is actually the latest I have ever gotten up on Christmas. My mom came through with three gifts for Christmas, which were a new watch, money, and a bag of candy that she got from somewhere. In return, I surprised her with a gift set that I got from Bath and Body Works. She was impressed with it, so I was successful. I also played around with the gifts that I bought for myself a while agotwo Wimzies House CDs for my computer. Yes, that is a little ridiculous, but whatever. The rest of the day was filled with the usual family traditions of Christmasgoing to church and visiting both of my grandmothers. There were a few differences though. First off, I didnt visit my moms mother at her house, but instead at her other house with her significant other. We stayed a while and munched on food while we were just talking and chillin. It was cool. I usually get a little tired of the family gatherings, but this one was fun, although it didnt involve that many people. Maybe thats why I liked it. Yet, then again, there was a similar gathering on Thanksgiving, and a few more people were involved, like two of my aunts and my cousin that I havent seen in a while. That was a lot of fun too. Well, I did get money from my grandmother as well, so that was a treat. Then, it was off to visit my dads mother. While I was not as involved in this visit (I never really am as involved, to be honest), it was cool for one reason. My dad actually came along. He has not visited that house in a long time, so for him to show up and be a part of this was great. Oh yeah, my sister decided to join in too. She wasnt around at first since she was so tired from the night before. She stayed up while her little boyfriend was around. Very typical of her. After that, there was a new activity for the day. According to my mom, an aunt on my fathers side wanted to see me since she hasnt seen me in such a long time. I was close to her when I was little since she was my babysitter. All of us went, my mom, sister, dad, and me. When we came to see her, she was so happy. We sat and chatted with her for a long time. It ended up being a moment of nostalgic purposes. My dad talked with this one guy who was also in the house. Im not sure if he was of any relation or not, but he and my dad talked a lot. He also mentioned to me that I must be a great artist because he knew that my dad was. Now, I wouldnt consider myself as great, but I do know that all of my artistic skills (as far as drawing goes) come from my dad. My aunt also mentioned how I drew things a lot and was very curious about things. She remembered the time when I actually drew the landmark Memphis bridge when I was little (yeah, I drew unique stuff like that back in the day), and it reminded her of the time we both went to places and I would tell her where to go because I was curious and fascinated about certain surroundings. I didnt quite remember that moment, but I do know that was the way I once was (and actually still am). That was pretty much how the whole visit went, just reminiscing about stuff from all of us. Then, my mom was getting slightly buzzed and it was funny. See, my aunts other friend, whos house we were actually in, made her own alcoholic beverage. My mom was curious about it. After she took one swig, she was hooked. She drank multiple servings. Good thing she was not driving herself homeI was. So, all in all, I had a nice time there. Once I got home, thats where I spent the rest of the night. I also had one gift that I had to play around with. Before I left school, I bought this tight turntable along with 25 records from my boy Smo, and I decided later on that it would be another Christmas gift for me. So, I played around with that a little bit. I never thought I would own such a thing, but Im glad I got it. Thanks a lot Smo. I really appreciate it. Everything went well on this day. Christmas was actually good this year.
All right, after writing all of this, it is now one hour and thirty-nine minutes until the new year comes in. Im about to go away and just chill for New Years is never a real festive affair for me. So, in closing from the final moment of reflection for 2003, I wish everyone a great New Years Day. Peace out.
