JUST ANOTHER BORING DAY

DECEMBER 30, 2002

Hello everyone. Here I am at the computer...like I have been throughout the day. I've been bored for this entire day. I can't bring myself to do much of anything. It's ridiculous...but I'm used to it. This is my last week at home...four hours away from my dusty college. I am definitely NOT ready to go back. This vacation went by a bit quick, but at the same time feels like it went a while. I was just thinking about the Friday I came home. It seemed like such a while ago when in reality, it was just a little over two weeks ago.

I guess I'll tell you about my Christmas day since I was intending to do so anyway. Dang...how am I actin'? Intending to tell you about my holiday like a day or two after, but finally getting to it five days later. Sheesh! Well, Christmas was pretty nice. It was a decent day...typical, but decent. Well, I'll start with Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, I was unusally tired. Well...I stayed up the previous night, and I tried to stay up the next day. Didn't work. I plopped down on the couch in front of the television. I was watching the movie "Babe"...haven't seen that in a while, so that was a treat. As I was watching that, I slowly became sleepy. I intended to go with my mom for the last minute Christmas holiday rush at around 1:00pm since I didn't get her anything. I was too tired though. She left without me. I think I woke up just in time to watch "Arthur's Perfect Christmas" at 4:00pm. Once I watched that, I went back to sleep. No surprise. I tried to stay up...I think I even woke up sporadically. However, the last time I fully woke up is around 10:45 or 11:00pm. Once Christmas chimed in, I popped in my tape of "Wimzie's House: Happy Holidays" and watched it again, among other things. Then, for most of the wee morning hours, I was taking a trip down memory lane and playing some of the games of Christmas days past. These days...well for the past two years, I don't get games anymore. Why? Well...because I have none of the new systems (PlayStation 2, Gamecube, or whatever). Why don't I have none of the new systems? Because I don't want them. If you ask me why I don't want them, I will either give you a lenghty answer or disregard your question. However, all I can say is...I'm blaming SEGA for it!!! That duck-ass company...lol. Anyway, last Christmas I had to get used to the fact that I didn't ask for or receive any new games. So, I sadly played some games that I got in the past. The major one last year was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis since it was ten years ago on that date that I got it. This year, I was used to the revelation. This time, I was mostly playing Sega Saturn games. I played Christmas NiGHTS, Sonic R, Sega Rally Championship, and Fighting Vipers. But my real reason for pulling out my old stuff is to rewind ten years. On that Christmas, I got a most highly anticipated game...Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Sega Genesis. That was such a wonderful day. When I was playing it this past Christmas, it brought back a lot of past memories: memories of sneaking downstairs, snatching the game away from the Christmas tree, and fired it up in my Genesis before I was supposed to. I didn't play it at first at that time. I watched the demonstrations throughout the game. I was so excited at that time. I had to go back downstairs and act like I didn't do anything. When my mom finally told me I could open up my Christmas stuff, well...let's just say not too long after I rushed back upstairs with Sonic 2...and my two new (off-brand) Sega Genesis controllers. Fun times right there...fun times. They could not be duplicated, but can be remembered. That's all I could do this Christmas day. Playing the Sega Saturn games again were fun too. I was really into playing Sonic R since it was the 5 year anniversary that I got that game on Christmas. I remember at first being amazed because Sonic looked so good in 3-D...on the Sega Saturn! Then, I was being a little baffled with the game because it controlled too loosely (well actually, more like a racing game...and not a Sonic game). Nowadays, I'm a pro of course...haha. I only played one round of Fighting Vipers. I got that game six years ago along with Sonic 3D Blast. The last game I played on Christmas was Sega Rally Championship. I got that four years ago. Fun stuff. Overall, I had a nice video gaming session. I won't have that again for a long time...maybe not until the next Christmas.

Well, I did receive two gifts on this Christmas day. I got a new television and this camera gift set with a free watch. When my mom gave me that gift set, it was kinda funny. I was a little stunned. Apparently, she got it from J.C. Penney and proceeds go to helping kids being in after school clubs. It was a nice gesture. The television was very nice. It's a 13 inch Apex television built with stereo speakers. I was shocked. I've never seen any 13 inch TV with stereo speakers. It also has a sleek design. I love it. At this point, I felt a little guilty that I didn't get my mom anything for Christmas, so I did the one thing that would make her so happy. I gave her a full $100 bill. She was surprised and stuff...all like "oh Derrian, give me a hug! I love you so much!" My response..."yeah, you should." lol...It was a nice little moment. It definitely made her day already in the morning. Then, the traditional events of Christmas took place. I went with my mom and grandmother to church for their Christmas service. Then, we went straight to my grandmother's house to deliver gifts and socialize. I watched my little cousin play with his new PlayStation 2 system. He was playing NBA Live 2003 (which wasn't his game...lol) and Tarzan, originally for the PlayStation. He didn't get any games for the system at the time, so that's all he could play. However, my other little cousin came over and brought along his Christmas present which was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. They had a ball. My mom got her mom a new DVD player. We stayed there for a while, and then my mom and I left to go to my other grandmother's house (my father's mom)then went to my other grandmother's house to socialize with all the people in that house and give her a gift too. We stayed there for quite a bit and chatted with my uncle who can really talk...I mean REALLY. However, we didn't stay as long as expected...hehe.

Finally, my mom and I went home...and on the way home we listened to my Christmas With The B.U.N.K.S. CD. I was listening to it throughout the day actually in my portable CD player. My mom was curious about what I was listening to. I told her, and she wanted to hear. We listened to the first four selections. From what she heard, she liked. We finally got home at around 4 or 5 something in the afternoon. Once I came home, we see that my father wanted to come by. I didn't care too much, actually. I saw him a bit, and then I went to go and watch a little television. I recored some Christmas programs while I was away which include Christmas themed episodes of Franklin, Allegra's Window, and Gullah Gullah Island. Interesting enough, I fell asleep while watching those shows. I was a bit tired. I woke up a few times and tried to rewind the tape to watch what I missed of those shows. I did that quite a bit. By 11 something (I think), I was finally finished. So, that's how my Christmas day went. It wasn't such a bad day, but just ordinary. I had plans to extend my Christmas "fun" through the next day or two by playing more games and watching stuff, but I didn't do as much as intended.

So, what am I doing at this time besides typing this stuff? Well...nothing. After this, I'm going away to watch a little TV, then I'm hopping back onto the computer as I usually do. This final vacation week is going to whiz by, unfortunately. I'm gonna have to make the best of it, but that won't be much. With that said, I about to end this. Take care everyone. Peace.
