The Sega Genesis 32X was a system that was a good idea, had good intentions, but ultimately was a failure. I was one of those people that bought into the hype of this system, so I wanted one immediately. Also, there was one ultimate reason that I wanted to get this system: the Virtua Racing fan inside of me wanted to be satisfied. The Genesis 32X did deliver extra power that the Genesis alone could only dream of. However, not enough of this "32-Bit" power and/or games could save this system from its doom. Still, I do not regret buying this system, and I have enjoyed it immensely.

Here is the listing of all games and peripherals that I own for the Sega Genesis 32X system. The items are listed in order in which they were received.

MY TOP 3 SEGA GENESIS 32X GAMES

NUMBER 3. VIRTUA FIGHTER

Virtua Fighter for the 32X is a highly respectable conversion of Sega's classic arcade fighter. With the 32X being my only 32-bit system at the time, I was interested in Virtua Fighter coming to the system. When getting this game on Christmas Day 1995, it became one of my favorites. The graphics, although not near the arcade or Sega Saturn versions' level, are well done and push the 32X's system power to the limit. The music and sound are also surprisingly very good with nice quality. The 32X version of Virtua Fighter is much better than the rushed Sega Saturn version overall. The control on the 32X is flawless, a few extra songs are present, there are more modes of play here (including ranking mode and tournament mode), and it is far less glitchy. Virtua Fighter is one of the best games on the 32X.

NUMBER 2. KNUCKLES CHAOTIX

Knuckles Chaotix came along with hype, and then negative reviews. On Christmas Day, I shrugged off the negativity and experienced the game for myself. It's a good thing I did because I really love it. Chaotix stars Knuckles the Echidna with his friends Espio the Chameleon, Charmy Bee, Mighty the Armadillo, Vector the Crocodile, and two robots Heavy and Bomb. Chaotix is like the Sonic games with the twist of the "combi" gameplay. The first player is linked to the second player (or CPU). All of the classic Sonic moves and speed are here. The graphics are highly bright and colorful. The sounds are typical fare, but the music was different and impressive. There are lots of zones, and the 3D bonus rounds are great. Knuckles Chaotix is one of my favorite games to this day.

NUMBER 1. VIRTUA RACING DELUXE

Virtua Racing Deluxe is the reason I wanted a 32X system, and what a great game it is. Not only is it a nearly perfect translation from the arcade, but the extra cars and tracks added more to the experience. The graphics were mighty impressive. The music was great too and sounds were great, too. All of these attributes made the 32X edition far better than the Genesis version, and almost as good as the arcade. Now, here's where it gets better than the arcade. Along with the original Formula 1 car, there are also two added ones: Stock and Prototype. Then, there are two extra tracks and extra modes. Virtua Racing Deluxe is quite possibly my favorite racing game ever, and this is the best home version of an arcade classic! This is the BADDEST Virtua Racing ever!
