| Since you guys`already know my first name, I'll tell you my last name, it's Lucio. I was bornded in Gallup, NM in '81. I spent my childhood in Zuni. but grew up in Gallup and Alburquerque I've been playing the drums since I was sixteen and have been coming up with the beats for drazil since '99. Before this, I was trying to learn the guitar but found it to be to complicated for me (way to many RULES to remember). Playing the drums just came natrual to me and it was fun. Drazil was established in '99 by two sixteen year olds and one nineteen year old. At first, we or I didnt have a drumset, so being the desperate musicians that we are, we talked to our band and guitar teacher in letting us use the schools drumset for a while. Instead of getting the brand new set that we had hoped for, we got this old ass, crapy, 1930's model drum kit that was duck taped whenever it broke. We used it untill it became worthless. By then I had finally coughed up the balls to ask my dad for a drumset. I got a PEARL forum series five piece (at least it was a five piece). Until one of my toms flew out of the back of jays truck and now its a 4 and half piece. I have many influences, mainly alcohol that influence me to play. Early Metallica's kill'em all, ride the lighting Anthrax, Sabbath, NWA, Snoop, Biggie Smalls, and cant forget 'bout Pac. I can't really stay committed to one style of music because I like it all. Yes, even country and christmas music. It just depends on what catches my ear. My style of playing mainly consists of straight rythyms, triplets, and paradites. basic stuff . I don't necessarily like to go by the rules of drumming, so I just go with the flow. I live by the first rule of rock-n-roll...that there are no rules. I think that being in drazil has opened my eyes. I now see that there is a broader view to life, other than conformity. I want to enjoy my life while it lasts. I dont want to live my life slaving at work for minimum wage everyday. Dont get me wrong. I think that hard work makes you the person that you are. I'm just saying "live a little " . Many people think that writing music is simple, but there's more that goes into it than just making up a melody. You have to expose yourself to the world, that in its self is the hardest thing to do. One things for sure, I'm NOT down with my band going mainstream. I love the underground scene. I dont want to force our music on any one. NO!! ...wait I do. We strive to be as unique as we can. Personally, metal needs to evolve. After a while it becomes stale and bitter. Kind of like when you've been parting all night and you start to get that taste in your mouth. I don't want to be like that. I don't want people to be intimidated by us. We're as normal as anyone else, except the weirdos out there. Next time you're at one of our shows come say "hi" to us and see how "normal" we are . until then ... laters -lkl- |
