Suzette's Party
REVIEW

With the band arriving at diverse and unknown times, the tension was rising for those of the band that had already arrived as they waited for their colleuges. As the band practised for one last time before the party, with all the equiptment on stage and the whole band ready and waiting (except Emma as she was in England.) The band expecting to go on stage at the very start of the party (7:30pm) were growing increasingly anxious..until they were told that they were going to start at 8pm...8 o'clock came and went with nothing but the CD player in the background..Finally! at 8:30pm the band made their way to the stage, the lights delicately switched off and the strobe lighting and disco lights applied to set the scene. The first song was kicked off with heavy feedback from Rachel's amp and straight into "Nirvana-Tourettes", the timing was precise. There was a brief halt to the music as Rachel introduced the band, half way through the introduction running at full pelt into "Metallica-For Whom The Bell Tolls" with excellent drumming from the one and only Nikki Armour! With a galliant cheer from the very few metlers attending the party, the band bore on with "Black Sabbath-Paranoid" Rachel covering the solo as good as it can be with some improvisation techniques added. Rachel then announced that the band were to play two punk songs in their set even though she protested greatly and the first of the two punk songs was to be "The Pixies-Where Is My Mind" with another solo shot out by Rachel and superb drumming once again from Nikki. Next was "Metallica-Last Caress" this was only practised once! and was done with such great precision from the whole band, Vinnie keeping Rachel in Time and Chrissy just primarily knowing what to do, as usual and the most amazing drumming from Nikki who has only been playing drums for 8 months and she played this song better than Metallica themselves!! Racing ahead onto the final punk song, hated by everyone in the band except Nikki..."The Undertones-Teenage Kicks" with Dean and Rachel harmonising the vocals with each other, there was no stopping the band now, and Rachel making the solo up as she went along, sounding even better than the original solo of that song. Finally and most importantly we have "Metallica-Enter Sandman" this solo was shot right from the skilled fingers of our own Vinnie Harte, with the rest of the band in total awe of this solo. With excellent singing from dean, amazing solo from Vinnie, fantastic timing from Chrissy, Superb drumming from Nikki and awesome precision from Rachel...the band knew they were on their way...
