Our second CYC gig, (and if anything to do with me, our last!) nerves were on the increase as we tried to set up all the necessary equipment. We had a soundcheck consisting of "Tourettes" and that was it. The doors opened at the usual time of 7:30pm, not many people attending this time. The first band on being Reckless Minds who played pretty good, I loved their originality and their solos, it was all good apart from the PA! Half way through RMs set, I realised that DRAYVEN hadn't even practiced "Chop Suey" ONCE! NOT ONCE! So everyone (except Nikki for obvious reasons) took their instruments outside to practice in silence. It was the most insane thing, we just felt so stupid! standing outside a yacht club with soundless guitars pretending to play and Nikki making funny drum noises with her mouth and weird arm motions! We did all we could do and we went inside. We played well but it didn't come across as such thanks to the one, the only...The PA! Next was Redline, man you gotta love these guys! they kicked serious ass at the CYC, they were awesome! played through their set, ignoring the disgusting PA and putting all us local bands to shame! Chris even managed a solo behind his head! All was well...except the PA! I have stated that I will literally never play in the CYC again unless there is a guaranteed good PA that I have personally tried and tested! It really ruins your reputation ya know!
