Stepping back from the ledge you can open your eyes again. The sunlight floods vision and overwhelms everything for a moment. Then the street below comes into focus. You know that is where you were going to land. The question of why has passed from mind. There is no longer reason for it, against it or in anything any longer. The road you took getting here is an opaque memory. So, your bare feet edge forward until your toes hang over the concrete. Once again you shut your eyes. Floods of images stream back into view. The puppy, the sunset, first car, first date, first fuck, first toke and every other piece of shit you did to waste your life. It is then that the weight of your body shifts. In the cool empty air you are thrust earthwards. Through all of time you fall. Despite the sting you force your eyes open to see the ground approaching until it is where you are and you feel no more.
