ANNANDALE HELD SUCCESSFUL YOUTH BONSPIEL

Annandale youth teams entered into the Youth Bonspiel held at the club on Saturday November 8, 2008. A total of 28 teams
participated The winning team in the Competitive Draw (age 20 and under this year) was a foursome from Leaside, skipped by
Kevin Hawkshaw. Annandale took the next two top spots. The team of Ben Bevan, Chris Avery, Jake McGhee, and Carter Adair
came second, and Michael Bryson, James MacPherson, Sandy Martin, and Josh Hall took third. The Non-Competitive draw for 16
years and under went to out- of-club teams. First came a Leaside team skipped by Tyler Van Huyse, followed by Russell Matthews
from Whitby, then Michael Harris from Bayview. All players had two eight end games, lunch, snacks, and there was a prize for all.
Convenor Sharon Lalonde said thanks to all of the volunteers who made the event run smoothly.
The OCA Junior Zone play-down is to be held at the Whitby Curling club November 22 to 25. Annandale has three teams entered.
Jennifer McGhee coaches the Junior Ladies team of Lesley Pyne, Stacey Hogan, Suzanne Miller and Katie Hickey. The Junior
Men's team of Michael Bryson, James McPherson, Sandy Martin and Josh Hall is coached by Susannah Moylan. Paul Bourque is
coaching a Bantam team entry of Ben Bevin, Jake McGee, Chris Avery, and Carter Ardair.
Revera Retirement presents the TCA Toronto & District Ladies Bonspiel 2008 Event November 11 - 13, 2008 with the finals slated
at the Host St. George's Golf & Country Club. Games go in various clubs during the week. Annandale has three ladies teams
entered in the bonspiel. In the Open Event Lorraine Scanlan will skip the team of Diane Leahy, Bea O'Regan, and Diane Easson.
Also in the Open, Rhonda Welch has Janet Alexander, April Risto, and Leslie Bainard, while the Sandra Thain team of Barb
Luffman, Joan O'Leary, and Bonnie Klepadlo, will try the Senior event for the first time.
Next on the calendar for Team Glenn Howard with Pickering resident Richard Hart at vice, and Brent Laing and Craig Savill on the
front end, is a trip to Waterloo November 12 to 16. Howard will shoot for an unprecedented third consecutive title when his team
competes against 17 of the top squads from Canada, Europe and the United States at the Masters of Curling, the first of four
tournaments in the men's Capital One Grand Slam of Curling series. The teams play in a triple knockout draw looking for a share of
the $100,000 purse. CBC Sports will televise the championship rounds of each event, with live streaming available on
CBCSports.ca
