Annandale won the A side of the Regional Junior Mixed Playdown in Fenelon Falls on the weekend. Josh Hall teamed up with Spencer Anderson, James McPherson, and Yvonne Lalonde and coach Donna Hall to now advance to Marmora at the end of March to compete in the Provincial Finals.  Michael Bryson with the team of Emily Lindsay, Sandy Martin, and Carly Bee with coach John Lindsay also played in the Regional but were sidelined in the B side semi final.

Last weekend, Tim March of Annandale with Julie Weagle, Patrick Jenssen, and Debra Bently, advanced to the Regional Mixed Playdown in the Whitby Curling Club.  The team was sidelined in the B side quarter finals. Rob Lobel representing Thornhill won the A side.  They advance to Beaverton in April to decide a Provincial Champion.  The winner there will wait out the chance to represent Ontario November 15-22, 2009 at the Burlington Golf & Country Club for the Canadian Mixed Championship.

Laura Arbour, Chris Avery, Kristy Hurst and Jake McGhee with coach Jennifer McGhee for Annandale competed in the Bantam Mixed Regional in Fenelon Falls March 7 -8.  The team was sidelined as was an Annandale member, Ben Bevan  who was skipping a Whitby team.

This weekend, Annandale will hold the Annual St Pat’s Mixed Saturday March 14th, 2009.  It includes three six-end games, snacks, lunch, dinner, dance and prizes.  There are 2 Draw times of 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM start.

The Ontario Men’s Champions Team Glenn Howard, with Pickering resident Richard Hart at vice, and Brent Laing and Craig Savill are on their fourth trip in a row to compete at the Tim Hortons Brier.  The event runs in Calgary March 7 to 15.  The previous three Canadian Championships saw Team Howard win their way to the final game, but the team was victorious only in 2007 and went on to be crowned World Champions.

At the Calgary Brier, all the players had a chance to win the Ford Hot Shots competition with the final on March 7.  The Ontario lead, Craig Savill, was the victor and won a 2 year lease on a new Ford with a value over $20,000.

At the time of writing, Richard Hart said that the team is enjoying the crowds showing up to view the competition.  After only 4 draws, the total attendance was over 52 thousand.
