Annandale has two entries in the Junior Mixed Zone playdown to be held at the Oshawa Curling Club February 14 and 15.  Michael Bryson will skip the team of Emily Lindsay, Sandy Martin, and Carly Bee.  Josh Hall will be teamed with Spencer Anderson, James McPherson, and Yvonne Lalonde.  Three of the ladies are Competitive Annandale memberships.  A total of five teams are entered in the double knockout draw that will send two teams to the Regional in Fenelon Falls next month.

Blair Metrakos skipped an Annandale team to victory in the OCA Colts Zone at Tam Heather January 31 to February 2.  With Metrakos were Chris Van Huyse, Andrew Klein, and Scott March.  The team now heads to the Regional Playdown at East York February 14.  Two of the eight teams at the Regional will advance to the Ontario final slated for Leaside March 18.

Annandale is hosting a Ladies Olympic Bonspiel February 21st and the event is full.  This year they are playing 2 eight end games and using a "skins format".  The team that wins the most "skins" money will win a cash prize and the opportunity to compete in the Melitta Bonspiel of Champions.

Annandale’s Susannah Moylan, with Rhonda Lawson, Shannon Sliva and Heather MacDonald competed in the Zone Playdown in the Best Western Intermediate Women February 7-8, at the Whitby Curling Club.  Six teams participated, but the Annandale entry did not advance.  However, Susannah Moylan, Barry Moylan, Carol Wilson, and Brian Moffatt won the Toronto Cricket, Skating & Curling Club Mixed Bonspiel.  It was held January 24th, fielded 24 teams, and qualified the team for the Melitta Bonspiel of Champions at the end of March.

Team Glenn Howard, with Pickering resident Richard Hart at vice, and Brent Laing and Craig Savill are again off to the Tim Hortons Brier after winning a fourth straight Ontario Curling Provincial Championship.  The team took first place in the round robin; won the Page Playoff 1 vs. 2 game, then took the final game 8 -1.  The TSC Stores Tankard 2009 was in Woodstock February 2 - 8.  Team Howard will represent Ontario at the Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary March 7 to 15.   The Brier winner advances to the World Championship April 4 - 12 in Moncton N.B.
