| The birthing praise My family was a people of the water and the sand...our ceremonies of birth and of the end, life and death, took place upon the shore of the nearest body of water. To welcome new life into the world...we would create beds of sand for the mother to lay upon, and around that bed, symbols of her choosing, molded out of the sand upon which our race places great importance. Into the embrace of water and sand the child was born, with the cheers of our people, the child was welcomed to Life. The cheers of our people were to the Life Giver, whom I know now to be the Lady Vivoria. The end In the times of the end, we once more took to the shores of the nearest body of water. Once more, the symbols were built in the sand, the same ones present at the birth of that particular scorpien. In the sands we would dig, until the hole was deep enough to lower the body, then we would lower the body into the sand, covering the dead one in stones, and filling in the behind with the sand, letting the water wash over all of this. Now would come the soft chants, chants to the Guardian of Souls... who I know now as Lord Mortis. These chants would be given to aid the soul on its journey to the place of rest. |

| Drasoini's symbols Drasoini has five symbols, which he recently had etched onto his carapace. The central and most important symbol given to him by his mother is that of a setting sun. The two secondary symbols are of a hawk in flight and waves crashing against a shore. His minor symbols are that of a cluster of stars and an open hand. |
