A movie about romance, action and what the real meaning of humanity means.  Some people have claimed that Peter Jackson has been given too much power with this film, and that he should have been given a shorter leash.  I disagree with these thoughts.  I believe that he has given a depth to Kong that required the backround of characters and a plot that intertwined with those characters.  The depth could have been over looked by some of Mr. Jackson's critics.  This story while entertaining with its actions scenes, especially a memorable one with Kong facing off against 3 carnivorous dinosaurs who try to eat our heroine and the great Kong, has more meaning to it.  the romance between two main character also lends to the story line, but seems to fall just short of making ita romantic movie, which I am grateful for that.  But the thing that captures this films heart the most is its yearning to make us look at our 'humanity' and try to define it.  Who is to say the giant beat King Kong, could not have love to frail woman to whom he became so attached.  And as he is caged, shackled and made into nothing more than a 'prop', the only people who rage against what is happening are a few on the adventurers who had seen Kong at his worst.  And after the movie, as I was exiting the theater, I over heard people talking about how wonderful and have horrible the movie was.  I heard things like, "Wow those special effects were amazing", "I can't believe that it was that long" or "That was to violent".  But one thing that I didn't hear was how sad it was that Kong was destroyed because he loved someone else.  Destroyed by those who claim to be the only ones who can love.  They only saw him as a beast, and forget to see themselves and the slavers and the murders.  I truly loved the movie, it moved me in ways that were painful and wonderful at the same time.  But it also made me look at humanity and our actions in a new, darker light.
