| HAUNTED HOUSE | ||||||||||||
| Next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite time. It's not just a day around here, it's a whole month! I decided to make the children a haunted house in the dramatic play centre. This proved to be difficult, because it had to be exciting for the older children but not too scarey to the younger ones. I started off by covering the walls of the dramatic centre with black garbage bags. It's time consuming but it's the heart of the setting. I also hung some across the ceiling and some from the ceiling and down to create walls. The dramatic play area is in a corner of the room so this closed it up a bit. I added in a few of my own halloween decorations, just to give it some life, but the real beauty came from the kids. All of their art was hung on the walls of the haunted house, so each day it got spookier. This was a very simple setting, the bags were the hard part. The rest was left up to the children's imagination (along with some peeled grapes for eyes and cold cooked spaghetti) When it was only the older children in the playroom I also put in a spooky sounds CD to add to the fright. The children pulled out the halloween costumes and dress up clothes and had a blast. |
