| STANDING OUTSIDE THE FIRE |
| June 28, 1998 1:40 a.m. Glorietta, N.M. A scream broke the silence in the room, a scream of "FIRE!," an impending doom. Her friends alerted after she woke, got up realizing it wasn't a joke. They ran down the stairs into the smoke and while crying, began to choke. They got out safe or so they thought, just then, out of the window, the flames shot. The fire extinguishers seemed to fail and the girls screamed to no avail. An hour and 45 minutes passed by before the sirens & lights filled the sky. It was too late, the building was up in flames, the fact was it might have been the end for these dames. But the wind didn't blow & the trees didn't light, because God had protected them that night. Now when going to New Mexico there's on thing you need to know: pouring water on a flaming electric blanket is a big no-no. |
