Our moms, dads, and siblings are dead.
So are our friends.
We are alone.
We are earth's only Hope.
Our world is in turmoil.
A war has affected everything.
Something went wrong.
We are a family now.
Six humans.
Six Digimon.
We will survive.
We must.

Digimon Watchers: We Will Survive
By Katmon =^.^= Ichijouji

~Katrania Monrastrie~

I still can't believe what happened. Boom! Our families, our friends, the other Digidestined... All of them were gone. Gennai survived, only to give us that news, a laptop, rings, and wish us good luck. Then he too, was gone. We're alone. Twelve of the Digidestined, six Digimon, six teenagers, in a world at war with no one around to help and planes with explosives flying over our heads.

I looked at the rings I still held. They were colored. There was a pink one, an orange and black one, a blue and green one, a red one, a light blue one, and a 'rainbow' one. Each one matched our D-3s. I picked out the 'rainbow' one and slipped it on my right hand ring finger. Then I turned to the others. "The things Gennai-sama gave us were meant for something. Each ring is the color of our D-3s. Take the one that matches yours and keep it safe." I held out my hand to them.

Each picked up their ring and looked at it. Then each put it on the same finger I had and looked back at me. *I guess I'm in charge of this mission.* I thought lightly. "Let's get out of the line of fire, shall we. We'll go to the Digital World and make plans there, since it should be safer ." I mumbled, still not too happy about my new place. The others nodded and I opened the laptop. I got out my D-3 and held it before the screen. "Digi Port Open!" I told it. Nothing happened. I looked at the others.

Dai grinned. "You yourself said, 'The things Gennai-sama gave us were meant for something.' "

We all laughed quietly as I held my ring before the screen. The others did the same behind me. "Digi Port Open!" We shouted as one and were transported to the Digital World.

:~:

I looked around. We were in Gennai's living room. On the table before us was the laptop we had come through and five others. A small slip of paper rested on the table and I walked over to read it.

Dear Digidestined,
I guess the six of you learned how to use the rings I gave you. That's a good thing, since I didn't have time to explain.
The laptops on the table are for you. Each one will go back and forth, between all the worlds. Use them well for they are now your only mode of travel.
Your D-3s will still be used for digievolution, but the rings and the laptops are to be for you only. Each laptop is resizable, so it can go anywhere with you, unnoticed. It will know your needs.
In the real world, each of your Digimon will revert to a less noticable form, if it isn't already there.

Good luck,
Gennai

I felt tears in my eyes as I read the note to the others. I saw tears in their eyes after I'd finished. I picked up the laptop we'd come through and handed one to each of the others. "We can spend the night here. Let's all get something to eat. After that we can come up with ideas of what to do tomorrow." I told them.

"Food!" Rou cried, running to the kitchen. We all laughed and followed him.

:~:

After we all ate we went back to the living room and sat. "Well, anyone?" I looked at all the faces around me.

Traina smiled. "We could each see if we could join a household and learn what's going on. That way, we won't feel so alone and we'll have a place to stay, since it seems like we'll be in the real world more often than the others, or that's how Gennai put it."

Karai smiled at the girl. "I like that. Where should we all stay?"

"Japan!" Rou cried.

I smiled and shook my head. Dai shot me a look. "Why not, Kat-chan?"

"Our names may be known."

"How?!" Karai asked, unbelieving.

Mel nodded. "I get it. Our last names. This may be a diffrent future then we came from, but others with our names may exist, some of which could be our families, with different memories. It would be even worse if we ran into our other selves! Best we play it safe and go to an area where our names are less likely to be known."

"Oh. Good point." Dai comented quietly.

"I guess it is best to play it safe. Then where would we all stay?" Karai asked.

"We all speak English." Traina said.

"Not America, I'm from there." I said.

"Then where?!" Rou cried.

"England." Katmon whispered. She looked at all of us. "No one grew up in England, so there's less of a chance of being found. It's a pretty big place, so we can spread out some. Also, that's where English is really from. It's the best place to go."

I nodded. "Good idea, Katmon-chan. Does anyone disagree? I know most of us know England pretty well. Those who don't, will learn." The others nodded. Rou yawned and I smiled again. "Since we have our plans, bedtime. Everyone choose a room. I'll stay here and help anyone with some basics on England, if they want it." I looked at my sister and Traina.

Dai looked at me. "You barely know the place!"

"I know it best of any one in this room. It's where Will-chan grew up! I used to visit him all the time. I wish I still could." I felt so alone all of a sudden and burst out crying. Everyone came over to see if I was okay.

"Kat! What's wrong?!" Mel cried.

"I mi-miss Wi-Will-chan. I wish he was here too!" I sobbed.

"We all miss the others, Kat-chan. Maybe we'll run into him while we're there and we can befriend him again." Karai said softly. She is the holder of the Crest of Compassion, after all.

I nodded and looked up at my friends, my family now. "We are here for each other now, I guess. We can call ourselves a family. But what would be our name?" I thought aloud.

Karai looked thoughtful. "What did you American Digidestined call yourselves again?"

"Digimon Watchers."

"Watchers. We'll be the Watchers." We all nodded and smiled. Then the others, other than Mel, went off to bed.

"Don't try to teach me about England, it'll only make you cry again. I just needed to talk to you."

I moved over to make room, and motioned for her to sit. "What about?"

"To thank you, for one. You were the only one who stood up for me the whole time. Sister or not, you did a brave thing." She whispered.

"You're my blood, Mel-chan. Of course I'd stand for ya!"

"Not every sister would stand up for the Princess of Darkness. You even made sure Traina and I stayed as friends! You are special."

"My crests are Light and Kindness. We'll just say it was out of the Kindness of my heart." I laughed.

Mel grinned. Then she frowned. "That makes us opposites. You are Light, I am Darkness. What is inbetween?"

"Hope. Hope is what is inbetween Light and Darkness."

"Who is Hope?"

"Thom, and Takeru holds the crest."

"I never had the honor of meeting either."

"Remind me of that when all this is over and I'll introduce you." I said.

"Yeah. That would be nice."

~Tenchia Karai~

The next morning we all ate and then left for England, planning on meeting back in the Digital World every night, if we could.

I found myself in a back alley, torn clothes that I've never seen before was what I was wearing. I smiled. *Now I'm a beggar girl. Gennai-sama did say this computer knew our needs. Maybe I'll run into a kind family.* Plotmon came over and rubbed up against my legs. I looked down at her. "Think you can be a pitiful puppy? It'll really help."

Plotmon grinned. "Anytime, Karai-chan. I'm pitiful now!"

"Just, keep your mouth shut." I grumbled as we stepped out from the alley. I had my laptop resized to fit in my pocket, to keep it from most harm.

I felt better walking down the street with Plotmon at my side than some of the people I saw. I didn't say anything, just hoped to run into a kind person.

And I did! An older lady saw me and walked over. "Where are your parents, young child?"

I shrugged. "They was in my house, but my house not there no more." I hoped for a bombing to have been dropped. If not, a house fire would do.

"Did that bomb hit your house child?"

"I dunno. I wasn't home when house went bye-bye." I said sadly. *I really wasn't home when it disappeared. I'll never see mom or dad again!* I burst out crying, the pain of losing my family weighed heavily on my heart still. I knew how Kat-chan had felt, thinking about Will-chan. The two were like a big sister and a little brother.

"What's wrong dear?!" The woman was frantic.

Plotmon brushed my legs. I smiled down at her and stopped crying some. "I want mommy and daddy back." I whispered.

The woman looked down at Plotmon. "Is that your puppy?"

"Yeah. Isn't she pretty?"

"Very. Would you like to come live with me dear? You can keep your puppy."

I looked up at her. She was pretty. I nodded. "It would be nice. It's only been me and Plot for a long time now." I told her.

The woman smiled. "Call me Aldas, then. What's your name, dear?"

"Karai."

"Is there a last name with that?"

I thought about what we were calling ourselves now. "Yeah. Watchers." I smiled. I liked that name, and it wouldn't contact any family of mine, other than my family of Digidestined.

~Tenchai Rou~

The first thing I thought about when Mokumon-chan and I hit the ground was, *I miss Karai-chan.* The next thing was, *These clothes the laptop gave me are ugly. Mommy would never let me wear something like this at home!* Then I looked around.

We were in a park. A park that didn't look like a park anymore. now it looked like a bomb field. It looked like the area around Gennai-sama's building. I burst out crying. Mokumon-chan crawled into a small bag where my laptop was. He fit, so I guessed he was supposed to go in there.

A human head, of a girl about two years younger than me, popped up over the bush I was hiding behind. "Why are you crying, little boy?" She asked me.

"I miss Gennai-sama and my parents and my sister!" I told her, my tears subsiding.

"I don't know who Gennai-sama is, but he sounds like he's from Japan. My mom and dad are from there. You look like one of your parents were from there too."

"Both of them. We moved here not too long ago." I lied.

"Cool! That mean's you speak Japanese! Come on! Maybe my mom will let us keep you!" She pulled me up from the ground then looked me in the eyes. "What's your name?"

"Rou. Watchers Rou."

"Wierd last name, Watchers. I thought that was and English name."

"It is. Mom and dad Englishenized it when we got here."

She laughed. "That was a good idea! By the way, my name's Marta!" She said, then dragged me to her mom, who was standing by one of the potholes in the ground. "Mom! This is Rou! He's from Japan too! He lost his parents, sister and some guy named Gennai-sama in the bomb attack."

Marta's mom looked at me in surprise. "Did you say, Gennai-sama?" I nodded. "Do you need a place to stay, Rou-kun?" I nodded again. "You can stay with us, then. Call me Mimi-san."

I gasped. *Mimi-san! It is her! Kami-sama! I ran into one of the others!* I thought in surprise as Mimi-san winked. We weren't alone after all!

~Daiho Iroi~

We came out in an old, run-down apartment. I saw other buildings out side, as well as some big holes. *There was a bomb attack here. That's a good reason for why I lost my parents.* I looked up as Mushmon-chan jumped into the backpack on my back. A man looked at me.

"Come with me, Iroi-kun. We Digidestined should stick together." Iori-san said.

"Iori-san!" I cried and ran over to give him a hug.

He grinned. "We were all thrown around a little, but most of us remember. Mimi-chan, Ken-chan, Miyako-chan, Koushiro-chan, and Taichi-chan are the ones I've run into. Let's go to my house. We can talk more there, and you can tell me how you came from the Digital World."

"How did you know I was here?"

"I told him." A woman stepped from behind the doorframe. She had long red hair and pretty green eyes. "We often come here to think, and I heard a noise upstairs. I told Iori-chan and he came up here."

Iori-san blushed. "Stop it, Mara-chan. Iroi-kun, this is Mara-chan, my wife."

I stared at her. "I never knew you married, Iori-san."

"I did, a long time ago. Something happened when we fixed time and some of our family from the past came to the future to join us. The only Digidestined that I know of that have yet to find their old love, is Taichi-chan. Then again, I've seen so few of the others."

"Let's go to your house, Iroi-san. We can talk there." I turned to my bag. "You can come out, Mushmon-chan."

Mushmon-chan peeked her head out. "Konnichi wa, Iori-san. I'll bet the others are having a harder time than us."

"I don't know. They may have run into some of the others. Ya never know." I told her as we followed Iori-san and Mara-san.

~Melanie Monrastrie~

I looked around and saw that there was no one on the street before me. I heard a noise above me and looked. I caught sight of one of the planes we had seen in Mexico. "Catmon! What'll we do?!" I whispered urgently to my Digimon.

Catmon looked up, her snow white fur had dirtied to a dull gray. "I guess we stay right here. I don't think they'll fire if we don't move."

I nodded slowly. "All the more, I'm getting out my laptop and standing ready."

"You want to run?!"

"I-I-I..." I was unsure now. *What would Kat do?! I wish she was here!*

"Hullo! What ya doing in the street girl?!" Someone called from behind me. I turned and looked. A man stood there, an amazed look on his face. "Kat-kun?!"

I couldn't help but giggle. I look too much like Kat. I guess this was a friend of hers that had retained his memory. "Sorry. I'm not Kat. I'm her twin sister, Melanie. Mel for short."

"I knew there was something odd about you. I'm Takaishi Takeru. I doubt your sister was kind enough to tell you of me..."

I cut him off in amazement. "Quite the opposite, Takeru. She told me about you. Your the holder of Hope, the one in between us."

He gave me a funny look. "We'll talk away from here. This place is only growing more dangerous. Come on." He took hold of my arm and led me down an open trapdoor.

"Takeru-chan! Who are you dragging in this time?!" A woman's voice rose from down the stairs.

"Hikari-chan! It's Kat-kun's twin sister, Mel-kun." Takeru called back.

A very pretty woman with mid-back length brown hair and pretty brown eyes that held a tint of amber came and met us at the bottem of the stairs. "Welcome, Mel-kun. I'm Takaishi Hikari, Takeru-chan's wife."

I nodded politely. "I still don't understand why you Japanese people add things to other peoples' names." I grumbled as Takeru led me to a seat.

The other two humans burst out laughing. Takeru looked at me and stifled his laughter. "What did you mean, between you?" He asked. Hikari watched my face with Takeru, both awaiting an answer.

"Kat holds the Crest of Light, right." They nodded. "And she says the thing that falls between Light and Darkness is Hope, right." They both nodded again. "Well, I'm Darkness, so I guess that puts you between us."

Hikari stared at me in fear. "Yo-you're Darkness?!"

I nodded. "Dreadfully sorry you had to end up with me, since you used to hold Light. My sister never thought any worse of me though."

"I'll bet some of her friends did." Takeru commented, taking the news of my crest better than his wife.

"Duh! Karai thinks I should be put to death, or she did. When all of you disappeared and Gennai died, I think she got over that problem." I said quietly.

Hikari stood suddenly, walked over to another door and went inside, slamming the door behind her. I looked at Takeru. "Gennai-sama is dead?!" He whispered painfully.

"I-I-I... He disappeared before our eyes. It doesn't seem like he's still alive. I'm not entirely sure." I guess what I'd said had upset them.

"Not sure. You're not sure, but you're pretty sure he's dead."

"Ye- No- Err... I'm not really sure..." *God! Where are you when I need you Kat?!*

"Did you confuse yourself, or am I just asking too many questions for you?" Takeru asked with a smile.

"Both." I confesed.

"Oh. I'll stop, after one more question."

"Go ahead."

He grinned. "How the hell did you get here?"

I laughed. "Gennai gave each of us a laptop that travels back and forth between all the worlds and a ring that gets us from each place to the other." I showed him the ring, but left the laptop in my bag.

"Did you say all the worlds?" Hikari asked from the doorway. I nodded. "That's what Gennai said. The only place we've been so far, other than here, is the Digital World."

Both nodded. Hikari smiled at me. "You're a lot like your sister, Mel-kun. You're fine with me, Crest of Darkness or no." I smiled a thank you and she went on. "I have one last question for you."

"Oh boy." I grumbled, getting a laugh from both adults.

"Would you like something to eat?" Hikari asked.

"Now there's a question I can agree with!" I commented as I followed the two to the table and Hikari started cooking.

~Traina Collis~

It was a nice street, only it was below me. I was on top of a very tall building. I didn't want to be there. I'm afraid of heights. I held on to Kubmon's neck. Foxmon had de-digivolved to his lower form. He now looked like a fox cub, and less dangerous. Too bad I learned a long time ago not to trust the way one looks. Use Melanie as an example. As the princess she looked like she was a spoiled rotten, pissy little bitch. Except, I never thought of her that way, until I learned about what she had done. Now I wasn't too sure who she was.

"Hey! What's wrong with you?!" A voice called from behind me.

Kubmon and I exchanged looks and then faced the boy on the stairs I hadn't seen before. "I don't like heights, but Fox ran up here and I had to get him back down." I told him.

A small puppy came up beside the boy. "That's a Kubmon, Will." It said.

I gasped. "Will! Are you by any chance William Pretigue?!"

The boy looked at me in wonder. "Who gave you that name? And what are you doing up here with a Digimon?!"

"My name is Traina Collis. I am a Digidestined. Kat gave me your name." I said carefully.

"Kat-chan is still alive?! Where is she Traina?! Tell me now!" The boy cried, angry tears streaming down his face.

"I'm not sure, Will. We all split up." I told him quietly.

"When did you become a Digidestined?" He asked, quieter this time.

"Right before the time switch."

"Oh. You don't have a place to stay, do you?"

"No. It's just me and Kubmon."

"Well, any friend of Kat-chan's is a friend of mine. Come on in. You can stay with us." I followed the boy from the roof in wonder.

*Maybe it's a good thing I did meet Kat!*

~Katrania Monrastrie~

I landed in the middle of a busy street. No one noticed me. I felt kinda lonely again. *I wish I had Mel-chan or Will-chan here.* I thought as Katmon and I started down the street. My clothes were the same ones I'd been wearing since Katmon, Drac, Dracmon, Dad, Midoki Betamon, Clip, Clifmon, and I left our house in that other reality. *I will not cry. I can't cry. I've got to be strong.* I told myself as we passed a young girl on the street who was trying to comfort a little boy who was with her. I remembered all those times I had done the same for Will and Karai had done the same for Rou. I felt homesick.

"You look lonely, dear." The voice came out of no where. I snapped up my head and found myself staring into the eyes of Arulamon, in her humon form. "Is there something I can do for you, like give you a place to stay?"

"Go away, abazureon'na." I grumbled and pushed past her.

She grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. "What did you just call me brat?" She hissed.

"You need a breath mint. I called you abazureon'na. Of course, the name don't fit you as well as Arulamon, but I guess it works." I said to her face.

"You little!"

"Watch it! I'll have Katmon digivolve if you try anything! I know your name! I know your weakness! You don't want to try something on me! I'll kick you ass! If I don't, one of the others will! So leave me alone." I growled. Then I broke away from her grasp and continued my steps down the street.

"I never thought I'd see the day." A new voice called from beside me.

I looked up at the man walking beside me. "Don't you have something else to do, sir." I grumbled.

The man grinned. "May I introduce myself. I'm Xavier Tarrant. I was saying, I've never seen anyone stand up to Arula Monroe like that before, not even her brother, Jarn. Well done."

I stopped and stared at the man. "When you've run into her as many times as I haven't, you learn how to piss her off and get away with it." I held out my hand. "Katrania Watchers. Call me Kat. This here is Katmon. She's my kitten." We shook hands and he smiled at Katmon.

"Cute name, Katmon. Do you have a place to stay, Kat?"

"Nope. My family is all over England. We're all kids, since our parents died in an explosion. We aren't really a family, though, just a bunch of friends that all keep in touch."

The man nodded. "You're smarter than you look, kid. You can stay with me if you want."

"I'm not sure. Arula may not like me too much for saying what I said. You'll no doubt be putting yourself in the line of fire if ya house me."

"We're all in the line of fire in this world my dear. Anyway, I like your style, and it would be my honor to house you in your time of need." Xavier said with a smile.

"Then take me to your leader!" I said with a laugh and let Xavier lead me away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wheeeeeeeee! Fun! Kat pissed Arulamon off! Wheeeeeeeeee!
*laughs* I had to have someone piss her off! No doubt she and Jarnmon, who is so not her brother, will appear many times in the future! I love pissing ppl off!
And yes, when Kat said, "When you've run into her as many times as I haven't, you learn how to piss her off and get away with it." I meant the haven't to be there. Since, technically, Kat and her gang never ran into her, at least not in this reality. Xavier kinda overlooked that! ^_~
Disclaimer: We've had this discussion ppl! I don't own Digimon! Never have, never will! (Aw, shucks!) I know, it sucks. Just deal, and no sue me! I have a site! I'll put flames up there! {*mumbling* Bunch of bakas.}
