"I want them found!" They lost...

"He's looking for us." And they get another chance.

"They are no more than children!" He wants them dead...

"We are ageless." Just like the other Digidestined.

"One boy, five girls." They want to survive...

"We have to split up." To get their revenge.

"Another child died tonight..." The world....

"We have to hide our computers, our rings, and our Digimon." Wants Freedom...

"The Digikids are still on the loose..." But Freedom is now gone.

"Change your name..." They must hide...

"We will search every house if we must!" Or die.

"Change your looks..." The worlds once again depend on them.

"The Digikids stand against Demon..." They are the only Digidestined left...

"We are alone." And they know it.

"Check their backgrounds!" They are called by the world...

"I am no longer Kat, and I can't be Mel..." The Digikids.

"Chase them down!" They call themselves...

"We don't know where each other is going, or their name..." Watchers...

"Thirty-two died today..." Digimon Watchers.

"Start a rebellion, but keep it a secret." The worlds need to protect them...

"They must die!" But how do you protect your leader's enemies...

"We must live!" When anyone could be one of his men...

"Get her!" And they don't trust a soul...

"We'll meet again..." Not even each other.

"Demon has one Digikid..." One battle has been lost...

"We don't know anything..." Bringing on the war...

"Keep her alive, for now." That their enemy believes he's won.

"Don't go after another if they've been caught..." But he doesn't seem to understand...

What it means to win a battle, and leave the war in Fate's hands...

Their pasts are hidden. Demon knows them. He wants their blood. They are known to the world as the Digikids. They want revenge. It's six against one, and Demon's winning...

Digital Runaways
Melanie Monrastrie
By Katmon =^.^= Ichijouji

She just wanted to wake up, and find out this whole thing was a dream. She'd tell Traina about the dream, and they'd laugh and talk about visiting other worlds, and getting Digimon. They'd wonder if the whole thing could ever really happy, then decide that there's no way anyone could ever be put through that much pain, and nothing like that would ever happen. The pain She had just recived from Demon, made her want to forget, to maybe even die. Then Kat's face, and Catmon's face looked at her. They were crying. *No, don't cry. It's just a dream. You aren't real... Are you?* She said to them.

"Melanie. Melanie..." A misty, beautiful voice called out to her. "Open your eyes."

*Kat! Catmon!* She cried in her dream as her sister and Digimon started to fade away. *No, don't leave me... I-I don't wanna be alone... Kat!* She felt herself crying.

A soft hand rested on her shoulder, calming her. "Open your eyes, Melanie Kayla." Said the same voice.

Mel tried opening her eyes, but the room was just too bright and she had to close them again. "It's too bright!" She cried.

Then a cooling sensation touched her closed eyelids. "Now, try again." Said the voice.

She did. This time the light wasn't as overpowering, but she still had to blink a few times to get used to the light. She was in a white room, the walls, floor, and ceiling were streaked with gold and silver. Mel took in a slow breath, breathing the wonderfully fresh air. She was on a canopy bed that felt like pillows, or clouds.

"That's because they are clouds." Said the beautiful woman the earlier voice belonged to. She was wearing a flowing white gown which covered her feet and gave away the effect that it was going through the floor, or was the floor. Her hair fell to her waist and was white with silver highlights. A silver crown rested atop her head. "Are you feeling well, my child?"

"I-I think so. Where am I?" Mel asked.

"My palace in the clouds, child."

"Have we met before? I think I remember..."

"Yes, my daughter. We have met many times, though you did not know it. Once, I was a beggar on the street. You gave me food, for I was hungry. Another time, I was a young slave in your palace. You helped me excape the cruelty of the king. The last time, I was in my true form."

Mel gasped. "Dea?!"

"The same."

"So, I am dead." Mel groaned, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Yes, and no." Mel shot her a questioning look. "Your mortal body is dead, headless I might add. Your immortal soul, on the other hand, is still around. Demon can't not destroy that. Your sister and friends also still hold you in their hearts, so no, you are not dead. You are actually still very much alive." Dea explained.

"And how is all this good news gonna help me?" Mel grumbled.

"It depends on what you want to do." Dea replied evenly.

"I want to destroy Him! But as long as I'm stuck here, that won't happen." Mel ranted.

"Your friends, the other Digidestined, said the same thing. I'll tell you what I told them. There is still much you can do to help, you, Mel, most of all. Twins are usually connected by more than looks and blood. They are connected at the heart, theirs souls are bound together by something much bigger than even I. You, my daughter, can, if you try, talk with your sister through your hearts and minds. Few have this gift, but few are like you." Dea said.

Mel said nothing. She thought of Kat. *Kat-chan... Can you hear me?* She got no reply. Mel looked at Dea. "If I can talk to her, why can't I now?!"

"Demon has found her. He is blocking any and all connection to her through your Crest of Darkness." Dea said, worry creasing even her face.

"That idiot... She went and got it, then, instead of destorying it, like she should have, she kept it! I need to have a word with her!"

"You may also be able to contact you other friends, after you've regained your strengh. If you'd like, you have an older brother and father who have been dying to see you again. I can let them in now, if you want."

Mel's face brightened. "Could you? I've not seen them since..."

Dea put up a hand. "I know. Demon is cruel. I hope you and all the other Digidestined can defeat him." She turned and opened the door. "She is awake. Don't stress her too much, she is still weak from her ordeal." Dea said to the two men at the door. She let them in, then left.

"Mel!" James cried, giving her a great hug.

"You're a little runt still." Drac commented. "I hope Kat's not grown too much. I don't need her to get taller than me."

Mel burst into tears. "Mel, what's wrong?!" The two asked, alarmed.

"I-I-I... I thought, I'd never see you again!" Mel cried. "And, I miss Kat! Sh-she's in danger, and I can't tell her!"

James pulled his daughter into a soft embrace. "I know. We've been working on ways to help all of you since Demon took over. Kat's quick thinking on many occasions have been what was keeping you alive. The best we've been able to do was control the computers. Only yours went off track. You were supposed to go elsewhere, not back to the World of Darkness."

"I-I know. It was Demon who pulled me there. I have the Crest of Darkness. You may have noticed how it's attracted to the World of Darkness. It's like everytime I step through that computer by myself, or with Catmon, I end up there. It wasn't your fault."

"Okay." Drac gave her a hug, sitting down on the bed next to the two. "Still, it wasn't what we wanted. We planned on you living a long happy life."

Mel giggled. "I prefer this one, thank you very much! Life was boring at home in the palace. Anyway, I'm not under Demon's control anymore! I'm finally free!" She sighed. "Now, I'm worried about Kat. I have to find a way to help her!"

"I doubt that." Ken walked in through the partially open door. He looked at the three sadly. "We made a bad choice with Rou-kun. Demon got him. Dea-sama's helping him right now."

"Rou! Where is he?!" Mel cried, forcing herself out of bed.

Ken caught her as she fell and put her back on the bed. "You need rest." He warned her.

Mel pulled the blankets back over her and looked up at Ken. "What did you mean when you said 'I doubt that'? Did it have something to do with Kat?"

"Hai. Dai-kun is with her right now. Last I knew, Dai was wondering why Kat wasn't herself."

Mel closed her eyes. *Kat?*

*Mel?! But I thought...*

*I am dead, Kat. But, Dea said I should be able to speak with you. It was because we are twins, or something.*

*I'm glad. I don't know what I would do without you.*

Mel looked up at the other three in the room. "He lost. Kat's back."

"She is?!" Drac cried.

"Tell her hello." James said.

"Okay." She closed her eyes again. *Dad and Drac say hello.*

*They're there?*

*Dea said they've been trying to see me since I got here.* She remembered what Ken had said. *Rou's dead too, Kat.*

*I know. I... He choose to call me. He said something that pissed Demon off and Demon stabbed him in the back. The last thing he said was, 'Don't give up' and he wanted me to tell Karai-chan, he loved her. He kept on apologizing. I... He had nothing to apologize for! I'm the one who made us all split up!*

*No! The Digidestined up here, they decided where we were to go! They control the computers. They didn't mean for me to end up where I did...*

*I'm gonna kill Him! And I need to have a talk with those guys up there when you can let me. I'm guessing Koushiro-san and Ken-san were helping to place us.*

*No doubt...*

*Are you okay?!*

*Just a little tired.*

*Get some rest. We'll talk again later.*

*Okay...* She opened her eyes. "I, know why Rou's here."

"Demon." Ken said.

"Yeah. But, all Rou did was say something. It, for some reason, annoyed Demon and Demon stabbed him in the back." She shook her head. "Kat saw it." She looked at her father and brother. "She says hello back, and she misses you."

Drac nodded. "You need your sleep. We'll see about getting you and Rou together with the others later." He left with Ken.

"Sleep well, Mel." James said and kissed her forehead. He left.

She slept.

Hum... Oh, yeah!! Dea, is played by herself! Dea is the Latin word for Goddess, so she fit the part perfectly, although it hides her true nature. *watches Dea out of corner of eye* She's really quite dangerous!!
