"I want them found!" They lost...

"He's looking for us." And they get another chance.

"They are no more than children!" He wants them dead...

"We are ageless." Just like the other Digidestined.

"One boy, five girls." They want to survive...

"We have to split up." To get their revenge.

"Another child died tonight..." The world....

"We have to hide our computers, our rings, and our Digimon." Wants Freedom...

"The Digikids are still on the loose..." But Freedom is now gone.

"Change your name..." They must hide...

"We will search every house if we must!" Or die.

"Change your looks..." The worlds once again depend on them.

"The Digikids stand against Demon..." They are the only Digidestined left...

"We are alone." And they know it.

"Check their backgrounds!" They are called by the world...

"I am no longer Kat, and I can't be Mel..." The Digikids.

"Chase them down!" They call themselves...

"We don't know where each other is going, or their name..." Watchers...

"Thirty-two died today..." Digimon Watchers.

"Start a rebellion, but keep it a secret." The worlds need to protect them...

"They must die!" But how do you protect your leader's enemies...

"We must live!" When anyone could be one of his men...

"Get her!" And they don't trust a soul...

"We'll meet again..." Not even each other.

"Demon has one Digikid..." One battle has been lost...

"We don't know anything..." Bringing on the war...

"Keep her alive, for now." That their enemy believes he's won.

"Don't go after another if they've been caught..." But he doesn't seem to understand...

What it means to win a battle, and leave the war in Fate's hands...

Their pasts are hidden. Demon knows them. He wants their blood. They are known to the world as the Digikids. They want revenge. It's six against one, and Demon's winning...

Digital Runaways
Melanie Monrastrie
By Katmon =^.^= Ichijouji

She looked up at the empty cell. She sat up and rubbed her head, which was throbing gently. "Deus. Where am I?"

"Why Princess, you are home." Said a soothing voice.

"You..." She growled. Catmon stood before her, as if hiding her.

Demon walked from the shadows. "Ita vero. It's me." He smiled. "You are lucky you are still alive."

Melanie spat on the floor before him. "I'm not lucky. If I was lucky, I wouldn't be here, or I'd be dead."

"Why, Princess..."

"Don't call me a name that isn't mine!" The girl shouted.

"It's not like I can tell you two twins apart. You're identical." Demon growled.

Melanie grinned, realizing that she could use this to her advantage. "Aw. Too bad. It would help you to learn how to figure us out, wouldn't it."

"Why you..." Demon reached through the bars and grasped the girl's throat.

"Now, now. That wouldn't be smart. If you want the others, you'll have to find them through me."

Demon withdrew his hand. "We have ways of making you talk, Princess." He warned.

Melanie waved her hand dismissively. "Then why have you not used them?" She said, taking his bluff.

"You are the greatest pain in the ass I've had to deal with yet." He growled, leaving the little dungeon.

Catmon sighed. "That was dangerous. Don't do that again."

Melanie grinned. "As long as he doesn't know who I am, he can't use anything on me."

"Why not?"

"The tourture devices he can get his hands on only work once. If I'm Melanie, most of those devices have already been used on me. If I'm Katrania, he would only be wasting them on me. They don't work as well on people from Earth, they weren't meant to. They don't affect Digimon, hence they, the people Demon rules, are powerless against him. Only the DigiKids know his weaknesses at this moment. That's why he wants us. As soon as we are dead, he need not worry about a revolution. He is scared. He knows he'll die if we aren't stopped." Melanie explained.

A groan came from down the hall and Demon moved off. They hadn't given him a single clue as to who the girl was, and proved his worse fears true. The two in the cell giggled. "This isn't going to be as bad as I thought." Catmon said with a laugh.

Melanie sighed, her face pained. "Minime, it'll only get worse. I'm sure he has other ways of torturing us, and there's nothing we can do to stop him."

Catmon stared at her. "Please tell me you're joking."

"I wish I could. I hope the others come to help as soon as they find I'm trapped." Melanie mumbled, knowing that hope was stupid. The others would listen to Katrania. She said not to try and get someone who was trapped. Melanie felt her heart fall and a tear reach the corner of her eye. Catmon came and sat on her lap, trying to comfort the girl. The Crest of Darkness let out a faint glow, surrounding her heart all the more.

Later

:~*~:

Cuts and scratches covered the girl. Catmon's snow white fur was blood red. The two were worn out from the beating when they were thrown back in their dungeon room. Demon laughed from the hall before them. "You two are pathetic!"

Melanie looked up. "No more pathetic than you, to be assured." She hissed.

"You want to die, don't you?" Demon asked in disbelief.

Melanie grinned painfully. "Maybe."

Demon snapped a whip at her. "Well you can forget that stupid wish. I'm not killing you, yet." He laughed, walking away.

Melanie didn't have the strength to cry or talk. She just lay against the wall. Catmon stepped over to her, stepping carefully so as not to hurt herself anymore. "It'll be okay. I'm here for you, always." She whispered to the girl, whom she thought was asleep.

Melanie's hand snaked out to give Catmon a light pet. "Thanks, Catmon. That means a lot to me."

Catmon smiled. "Anytime." The two slept with no food, the Crest of Darkness only glowing brighter.

:~*~:

"Get up!" A guard called to the prisoners.

Melanie looked up through pained eyes. "What?"

"My Lord asks for your presence at breakfast, Princess. The animal is to stay here."

"Then you can let your asshole lord know I'm staying here." The girl growled.

The guard flipped a whip on her back, making it arch in pain. "You'll come, Princess." He ordered.

Melanie stood and reached her hand through the bars, grasping the guard's neck in her delicate fingers. "I'll stay, got that?"

"Ita vero, my lady." The man hissed. The girl let go and he ran down the hall. A shout came from the hall and he came running back, Demon following.

The guard opened the door, allowing Demon to go in and Demon looked the girl in the eye. "You really want to die, don't you?"

Melanie let out a harsh laugh. "Today is a good day to die." She hissed, spitting in his face.

Demon wipped the spit away and dragged the girl from her cell. The guard closed the door before the littler Digimon could follow. The little Digimon stood at the door, tears streaming down her face as Demon took her partner away.

Demon sat the girl on a chair and put on the restraints. He was laughing as the girl glared at him. "What's so funny?" She hissed.

"You'll be Melanie. You have the Crest of Darkness. I can still use you."

Melanie glared at him. "How do you plan to do that. I'm not imprisoning any of my friends. Kat told the others not to come after a person if they got caught by you. They'll listen to her. Anyway, I don't know where any of the others are."

He laughed. "I need only your crests dear girl. They'll lead me to your friends. Sadly, only you can take them off. I'm leaving you and your Digimon apart until you take them off." Demon took off the restraints from her right arm. "You can take them off now, Melanie, or you can wait and make it harder on yourself."

Melanie reached under her shirt and pulled out her four crests. Life, Respect, Death, and Darkness shimmered back at her. She tore off Life and Death and crushed them, knowing those two would give him an instant path to her twin and put the other two back under her shirt. She pointed to the two that lay in shatters on the ground. "Those two would have gained you my sister immediately. Looks like I'm not seeing Catmon anytime soon."

Demon grasped her around the throat and started choking her. "You just signed your death warrant, Melanie." He warned.

Melanie put her face right up to his. "And you know what, I don't give a damn."

He hissed angrily and pulled away. He snapped his fingers and two guards came in to drag the girl to the torture room. "You shouldn't have made him angry, miss." They warned.

Melanie hung her head. "I know. But making him angry is one of the few things that is keeping the others alive." The guards nodded.

"Keep going, and no talking!" Demon shouted from behind them. All went silent.

As the whip hit the girl she screamed in pain. *Kat! I need you! Please... Kat... I love you... I hope you guys can use this to your advantage. Don't let my pain go unthanked...* She thought as she blacked out, a large slash across her chest bleeding dangerously.
