Part III- Misunderstanding

Tai and Kari scooted their way through the house to the main room where the band was. They were late because both Tai and Kari could not decide what to wear. Kari ended up in blue jean bell-bottoms and a bright pink tank. Tai looked super cute in a white Sailor Moon shirt with blue piping and a pair of old-man plaid dingy pants and big oversized black shoes. Goggles of course, adorned his hair.

Matt looked totally hot, as usual. He was wearing a white dress shirt undone at the neck. His pants were too long and a gray dressy material. He had on Chucks. He was singing his heart out as girls threw themselves towards the stage area and sweat was flying everywhere.

My god he�s beautiful and I can�t get that dream out of my head.

Someone passed the token joint to Tai and he took a super drag and passed it on.

Dream. Yama. Happiness.

Kari took a toke. "Jollies?"

"Jollies."

I knew it. But then again, who doesn�t want to fuck Matt? "Hey Tai, I�m going to go get a coke, want something?"

"Yeah, a big fat Matt burger!"

"You�re such a fag. I�ll be right back."

The band played on for about 2 hours. Then the music ended after a feedback finale. Nichan thanked the band and then tuned on some overhead music. As Matt left the stage he was accosted by about 30 rowdy girls. He smiled and was sweet to them but only wanted to see Tai. Just then Mimi pushes the anxious Jun out of the way.

"Hand�s off my Matt!"

She grabbed Matt�s unwilling hand and led him over to the side of the stage area where she gave him a huge sloppy kiss.

"What the hell are you doing Mimi!"

"Just marking my territory."

"I am not your territory!"

"Matt everyone thinks we look cute together! I was about to never speak to you again and I called everyone I know. They all said I would be crazy to break up with you since we looked so great as a couple. I figure you�re just so popular and that you couldn�t help yourself last night. I forgive you."

"I do not require your forgiveness. We are not a couple and certainly not a cute couple. You are the complete opposite of what I want! I�d rather be with Jun than you! At least she�s not as self absorbed as you! I hope you don�t ever speak to me again! I sure as hell would be a lot happier!" That felt so mean.

"Fine. Have it your way. I�ll find another cute guy and you�ll wish you had me back!"

What a bitch. Where�s Tai?

Tai went outside. He had to get air. The sight of Matt kissing Mimi was too much. He sat down on a step and out in the yard he saw Sora talking to a guy.

"Hey Sora!"

"Hey Taichi! I�ll be right there."

Well at least one of my friends gives a rat�s ass. "Sup� Girl?"

"Don�t sup� girl me. That sounds so stupid."

"Sorry. I fell pretty stupid right now."

"Why? I thought you�d be feeling pretty good today?"

"Why?"

"Well you know, after last night."

"What happened last night?"

"Don�t play all coy with me Tai."

"I�m not. What are you talking about?"

"Oh so sad. Too fucked up to remember the greatest night of your life. I bet Yamato remembers."

"Remembers what? What are you trying to say?"

"Okay Tai. This is huge and I swear you are lying if you can�t remember! Last night I was wondering where you were because Mimi�s conversation was getting so boring. So I went off by myself and met Nymphmon. She said you and Matt were upstairs somewhere. She seemed frustrated with you two."

"Okay enough with silly details get to the part I care about, the huge part."

"Trust me if you can�t remember this, you will want details. Anyway I peeked in the room that she indicated and you and Matt had your shirts off and were totally making out!"

"No way!"

"Way!"

"Oh my god. This is crazy! It wasn�t a dream! Thanks Sora! I am so glad you were spying on us."

"Not a problem. I can�t believe you were too messed up to remember your dream come true! So why aren�t you in there with him now."

"Well that�s what�s funny. Matt was in there kissing Mimi. Why would he do that?"

"Mimi probably just threw herself at him. He probably wasn�t quick enough to dodge her gaping mouth."

Yamato caught a glimpse of Tai and Sora talking on the back steps. He rushed to Tai. Right as he got there and before he was noticed he heard the unthinkable.

"Yeah Matt really grossed me out when he did that."

Matt could not believe what he was hearing. He shoved his way back through the crowd of people and out the front door.

My god! I am so stupid.

Matt threw his guitar in the back seat of his 1989 Toyota Corolla. He got in and slammed the door shut.

I am a fucking moron. I made the moves on Tai, my best friend when I know he like girls. He thinks I�m disgusting! Okay calm down. "I can�t fucking calm down! This is awful! I hate myself! I hate being like this!"

Matt sped home. When he got there he went to the freezer and pulled out a half empty bottle of vodka. He went to his living room, turned on some calm music, lit a joint and drank and drank and drank and slept.

Tai was so disappointed when he left the party. He looked all over for Matt and could not find him. He had fun though. He and Sora got stoned in the herb room and he made her give him details of everything she saw since he could not remember. No matter where Matt was Tai knew Yamato was his and that gave him the jollies. Tai and Kari�s friend dropped them off at their apartment and they went inside.

"Where have you all been?"

"I was just helping Tai with a project at his school. It was a botany project. We were sampling herbs and then giving our opinion of them."

The siblings giggled.

"Well, okay. You all get some sleep. Tomorrow is Sunday. House cleaning day!"

Tai and Kari disappeared down the hall.

"Hey Kari. Come to my room. I need to talk to you."

Tai had never told his sister he was gay but he figured she could guess. Besides Sora, Kari was the only person Tai could rely on to keep his secrets a secret. It was like everyone else he knew got off on telling other people his business.

"Was up?"

Tai closed the door.

"Look. I found out something tonight that you are probably not going to believe but I�ll tell you anyway."

Tai told his sister everything Sora had told him.

"Your right. I don�t believe you."

"Oh, whatever. Be happy for me. Please."

"Tai. I hate to burst your bubble but Matt does not like guys. Him and Mimi are going out. They have been for two years."

"Sora told me that she just throws herself at him and that he doesn�t like her at all."

"Well Sora is a liar then. It really pisses me off that she would play with your mind like this!"

"You�re really pissing me off that you won�t be more open to this idea!"

"I�m not being closed to this. It just seems highly unlikely that."

"Highly unlikely? Who are you, Izzy?"

"I just don�t want you to make a fool of yourself following Matt around like a lovesick puppy. You all are good friends. Keep it that way. Don�t let Sora�s lies ruin your relationship. I don�t want to talk about it anymore. It�s asinine. I�m going to bed."

Kari left Tai alone in his room.

Why would Sora lie? She wouldn�t. Yamato and me have something. Tomorrow I�ll call him and we can talk about this. We have to talk about this. I hope Sora didn�t misunderstand."
