Greek God and Goddess Competition Rules and

Guidelines

 

 

I.  Participation

A.     Any student organization registered with Drake University may

participate.

B.  The Organization may participate in the Greek God competition if its membership consists of more than 50% men and in the Greek Goddess competition if its membership consists of more than 50% women.

C.  An organization must declare its participation in the Greek God and Goddess Competition by filling out the application and returning it to the GPC mailbox (in the SLC office) by the deadline printed in the application form (Friday, March 29, 2002).

D.    Students may only represent one organization during the Greek Week competition.

E.     The organization receives the title “Greek God” or “Greek Goddess”, not the representatives.

F.     A maximum of 5 acts will be allowed per organization.

G.    All events are non-alcoholic and subsequent punishment will be issued by the Des Moines Police Department.

 

II. Scoring

A.     The winner of the competition shall be announced after all points are totaled the last day of Greek Week. 

B.     The determination of points for Monday Night (Talent Night): 

1.      One point per talent contestant or group entered in the talent show.

2.      Ranking point system will be used for the attendance portion --- top three organizations (by percentage of total organization membership) according to attendance will be awarded 5 points.

3.      Winners of the talent show receive 3 points (one male group and one female group winner), second place receives 2 points (one male group and one female group winner), and third place receives 1 point (one male group and one female group winner).

C.    The determination of points for Tuesday Night (Scholarship Night): 

1.      Ranking point system will be used for the attendance portion --- top three organizations (by percentage of total organization membership) according to attendance will be awarded 5 points.

D.    The determination of points for Wednesday Night (Panel Discussion and Forum Night): 

1.      Ranking point system will be used for the attendance portion --- top three organizations (by percentage of total organization membership) according to attendance will be awarded 5 points.

E.     The determination of points for Thursday Night (Auction Night): 

1.      An organization will receive one point for each dollar that is spent on their representatives in the auction.

2.      Ranking point system will be used for the attendance portion --- top three organizations (by percentage of total organization membership) according to attendance will be awarded 5 points.

F.     The determination of points for Friday Night (Band Night):

1.      Ranking point system will be used for the attendance portion --- top three organizations (by percentage of total organization membership) according to attendance will be awarded 5 points.

G.    Each full percentage point of an organization’s members purchasing a 2002 Greek Week T-shirt will result in an addition of 3 points for an organization’s total.

 

III. Rulings

A.   Any questions and/or clarifications may be brought to the attention of the Greek Programming Council.

Greek Week Talent Show

Competition Rules and

Guidelines

 

 

I.  Participation

A.   Any student organization registered with Drake may participate.

B.   An act must declare its participation in the Talent Show Competition by filling out the application and returning it to the GPC mailbox (in SLC Office) by the deadline printed in the application form (Monday, April 1, 2002).

C.  Students may only represent one (1) organization during the competition.

H.     A maximum of five (5) acts will be allowed per organization.

I.         Each act is allowed a maximum of five (5) minutes for the performance.

J.      No stripping and/or promotion of alcohol or drugs are allowed.

K.     Performers must provide their own props and/or musical material.  A sound system will be provided (microphone, speakers, and CD player). 

 

II. Scoring

H.     The winner of the competition shall be announced after all points are totaled at the end of the night. 

B.  The acts will be judged on creativity, positive portrayal of Drake University, and audience effect.

C.  Acts exceeding their five minute (5) allowance by thirty (30) seconds or less will have five (5) points deducted from their total score. 

D.  Acts exceeding their five (5) minute allowance by thirty-one (31) seconds or more will be disqualified from the competition.

 

 

III. Rulings

A.  The ruling body for this competition shall be the panel of judges pre-selected by the Greek Programming Council.

B.  Any questions and/or clarifications may be brought to the attention of the Greek Programming Council.

  Restrictions on Service for  

Auction Participants

 

 

  1. Respect for the participant as an individual of the Greek community is first and foremost while performing service.

 

  1. Participants shall not be forced to clean up bathrooms or messes created by bodily functions.

 

  1. Participants will not be obligated to spend any money while performing their service.

 

  1. Any act that may potentially put the participant in any type of physical harm is in no way permitted.

 

  1. Participants shall be given 4 days notice prior to the day they are expected to complete their 2 hours of service and at time that is convenient for both parties must be mutually agreed upon.

 

  1. Any type of harassment directed toward the participant during the completion of their service will not be tolerated and their obligation will terminate immediately.  This includes public displays, embarrassing situations, and or hazing.
