Lyrics by David Zippel
(Joni Harker walks into the living room of the Drak Pack Headquaters with a serious problem: She may be falling in love with Drak, Jr., the great-nephew of Count Dracula, her family's old enemy. She wonders about the room, thinking out loud. Draka --Drak's twin sister-- Reta, and Frost are sitting on the couch, watching her.)
If there's a prize for
rotten judgement
I guess I've already
won that
No man is worth the
aggravation
That's ancient history--
been there, done that!
Chorus (Draka, Reta, and Frost):
Who'dya think
you're kiddin'
He's the Earth and
heaven to you
Try to keep it hidden
Honey, we can see right
through you
Girl, ya can't conceal it
We know how ya feel and
Who you're thinking of.
(They watch as Joni wanders about the room, stopping at a small statuette of Cupid.)
No chance, no way
I won't say it. no, no
You swoon, you sigh
why deny it, uh-oh!
It's too cliche
I won't say I'm in love
(Joni turns away from the statuette, continuing to a suit of armor with the Dracula family crest on the chestplate.)
I thought my heart had
learned its lesson
It feels so good when
you start out
My head is screaming
get a grip, girl
Unless you're dying to
cry your heart out
Oh
You keep on denying
Who you are and how
you're feeling
Baby, we're not buying
Hon, we saw ya hit
the ceiling
Face it like a grown up
When are ya gonna own up
That ya got, got,
got it bad.
(Joni walks away from the armor to come to stand before a painting of Drak. She gazes dreamily at it. As Draka, Reta, and Frost finish their verses, Joni turns away, determined not to let herself fall in love with Drak.)
No chance, no way
I won't say it, no, no
Give up, give in
Check the grin you're
in love
This scene won't play, I won't say I'm in love
(Joni wanders around, finally sitting down in a ornate, wood and velvet chair. Her head rests on her hands, her elbows on her knees. Draka, Reta, and Frost get up and go to her, surrounding the chair --and Joni-- as they sing their lines.)
You're doin' flips
read our lips
You're in love
You're way off base
I won't say it
Get of my case
I won't say it
Girl, don't be proud
It's O.K. you're in love
(Drak comes in and, smiling, hands Joni a red rose, and gives her a kiss. He winks at her, then leaves the room. Joni brings up the rose and sniffs it, the memory of the kiss lingering in her mind. She smiles.)
Oh
At least out loud, I won't
say I'm in love.
(She sighs as she sniffs the rose again, and a dreamy look crosses her face.)
