He had only learned how to throw fire and run. Luckily for him, dragons had incredible endurance. The knights and magic users followed his trail for days, but soon a snow storm covered his tracks and he was safe from them. Now all he had to do was find a place where he could hide and hunt. He wandered the tall mountains for days, letting the sun's rays warm him during the day and sleeping in shallow cracks on the steep mountainside at night. His stomach grumbled and his feet were weary. Suddenly Spoof heard a welcome bleating. He followed the sound and saw a group of mountain goats resting in the morning light. He crouched behind a large boulder and watched them for several minutes before advancing slowly, his stomach rubbing against the ground. The goats noticed him a few moments too late, and Spoof pounced a kid and roasted an attacking ram. The rest fled. Spoof ate the kid first, letting the ram's blackened carcass cool. As he was finishing the kid, he heard a sound that would stay in his mind forever. He heard humans shouting. After listening for a moment, Spoof concluded they were getting louder. He grabbed the ram between his jaws and fled once again. Spoof spent the next few years roaming through the vast mountains. He slept at night and hunted during the day. He was always careful to stay away from the sound and smell of humans. Spoof didn't understand humans. No dragon did. They made sounds like the goats and birds. But they never ate what they killed. They killed for the sake of killing.
