Aerdancer - Chapter 01

My name is Aerdancer.  I am a gryphon.  For those of you who don't know what a gryphon is, I am a beast with the head of an eagle, the body of a lion, and great wings like the pegasi.  I live in the same mystical land as the dragons, unicorns, and pegasi.

Our land was once a beautiful place where any beast could roam freely.  But now humans have entered the land.  They seek to conquer it, and us along with it.  The humans want to tame us, so they can lessen their burden and make ours greater.  They want to kill off the dragons, because they consider the fire-breathing giants a threat.

The dragons call the volcanoes home.  The humans call them hell.  We gryphons, being solitary creatures, call the lonely cliffs home.  The humans call them dangerous.  The unicorns and pegasi call the pastures and dense forests home.  The humans call them farmland.

But we will not allow these humans to take our land, our home.  We have lived here for countless generations.  Our ancestors roamed these lands thousands of centuries ago.  We will fight for what is ours.  We will fight for our home.  There are only a few of us who remember what this wondrous place was like before the humans came.  I am one of those few, and this is my story.
