The star of this bizarre little show. Nor is intelligent, a little scary, very dangerous, and entirely unpredictable. She became cautiously attached to Max and Alec, but very much follows her own agenda, and doesn't feel like sharing. Something of what Manticore called COs or Unit Leaders, and determined to do her part.

The siege is officially over. Donald Lydecker and Ms. Rainier emerged in the second month of the siege, and humans who came forward telling kind tales helped their case a lot; Max found herself a figurehead and more for a city of her people, and rallied to their call with the help of all her friends. Unfortunately it's driving a wedge between Logan and herself, and her dependence on Alec is shaken when their genetically created child is brought into play. With White close at her heels and a deadline she doesn't quite comprehend approaching, Max has a lot on her hands.

Alec has found a purpose is Terminal City, in his people-and in Max, as her equal/second in command. He's never really considered the possibility of a family, but Max and Nor need his help and he's not about to give them up.

A human; a spoiled sheriff's daughter with a crush on Alec and very little friendliness towards Max. Her father is in complete charge of a small, tension-laden town Max and Alec become heavily involved in while rescuing Nor.
Nor doesn't like her at all.
An enigmatic transgenic who to all intents and purposes ran the base where the scientifically created children were raised. Nor answers to her; Lydecker is, if not afraid of her, very wary of her and warned Max to be. White has gained a healthy vendetta against her as he barely got away in their last scrape.

An up and coming politician who is strongly in favor of transgenic rights, a charismaric woman who had a large part in making sure Terminal city survived the siege. She and Lydecker seem to have a relatively unfriendly working rapport, and an X-6 named Amalthea goes everywhere with her, by choice.
X-6
A young, composed and very intelligent X-6 who seems to have adopted Melusine as both mother and protect-ee. Likes Max well enough.
