| Kayla In the beginnings, everyone was happy. There was nothing that could ever be wrong or sad. It was impossible to feel down. Then she came. Maybe I should make it a little clearer. There were six of us in the beginnings-Marcus, David, Jana, Senna, Casey and I. Not to say that we were friends, of course. Jana was the cheerleader. Casey was a blond surfer beach boy, her boyfriend. And Marcus and David were the boys every girl wanted, but didn't dare admit that they did. Senna and I were loners, and best friends. Senna was tall and slim and brunette, with pale skin and long hair that she had streaked with blonde. She was pretty but quiet and wore glasses, and studied during all her free time. That quality she shared with me; she didn't share much else. I was small and dark and even quieter than she, and I had a chronic terror of large groups of people and small cramped places. We probably shouldn't have gotten along as well as we did, we had so much in common. People always say that if you have a lot in common with someone, you'll go together perfectly, but that's not true at all. It starts to grate on your nerves after a while. But it wasn't like that with us. We didn't have that problem. |
