| Yggdrassil: (its fruit and leaves made an appearance) Mythology: Norse Its literal translation is The terrible One's (or Odin') horse. This is the world ash tree for which all the world rested on. Yggdrassil had three roots. One that was in Asgard where the well of Urd was guarded by the three Norns, another was in Jotunheim, the land of the giants where the well of Mimir was guarded by Mimir's head. And the last root which was dead in the earth in Niflheim, the land of the dead, where the dragon Nidhogg gnawed endelessly at its roots. And in the tree there was a squirrel, called Ratatosk, who every day and all day would run up and down the tree telling the eagle the insults from Nidhogg. Four stags live on the branches of Yggdrassil alway eating away at its leaves. Yggdrassil suffers greatter hardship than men had imagine for along with those hardships, its trunk is starting to rot. Gungnir: Mythology: Norse Odin's fabulous spear. It was crafted by the dwarf Brock in a contest of craftmenship with Loki's dwarves to see who could create the better gifts to the Aesir. It is the greatest of all spears and was crafted to never miss its target no matter how bad the thrower. Balmung: Mythology: Norse Yes, the legendary weapon only given to the Gravity staff members!! And its not Korean!! The sword given by Odin to the race of Volsung, the race of men who had Odin in there ancestry, who were made famous by Volsung. The sword was given to Sigfried the youngest of the sons of Volsung. Odin said that he who used it would win in battle. Sigfried used it and won great victories but then Odin in one battle threw Gungnir at the sword, shattering it and killing Sigfried. The shards were given to Sigurd, his son, who reforged it and used it to kill the dragon Fafnir. |
