Our "2 Cents Worth" : Worthy of further Outings for the Group !
Hi, my name's Annette and I am a new member to the group. A group of friends and I went to the old poorhouse on Main St. in Scottsburg to go on their haunted tour. I started to rethink going earlier that day, I thought that surely there wouldn't be any activity when we were all in there (a group of about 20 or 25 of us), but i was wrong!! It was pretty cool!!
The guides took us on 2 floors of the old poorhouse and told us about things they had encountered there. We heard a clanging twice in another room while we were all in one room ... a heavy steel door slammed from another room. The guide said that happened all the time.
Apparently, there were a few spirits in particular that showed themselves pretty regularly: Mary, the main one that people experience, the little twins, a boy named William, Nancy, and a sort of hateful man named Lester. All were residents at one time living at the county poorfarm.
We could smell cinammon in one room a couple of times and then it would be gone. The lady told us, we smell what they may have been baking in the kitchen when they were living there.
We felt cold spots in different places. One of my friends felt a poke in her back. My friend, who is the most down to earth person iI know and not someone who would let her imagination get the best of her, felt cold air cirling her hands in one room and the guide told us that was the "twins"... they liked to hold your hand or hang to you sometimes. I felt the air going around my hands too.
But here is the most awesome thing that happened to me: while we were all leaving this one room ! My friend and I were the last two to leave. We had been listening to the guide talking to one of the men in the group. We started to walk out ... my friend was a little ahead of me and no one was behind me. Something patted me very gently twice on the side of my arm half way between my elbow and wrist. It felt warm, not cold like i would expect it to. I told the tour guide, the lady who sees the ghosts most often, and she laughed and said that that was William and he had been standing next to her the whole time we were in that room. Most of the time, I was saying , not out loud, that i would like to meet any of the spirits who were there with us that night ... if they wanted to let me know they were there ... I would love to meet them. Maybe they heard me!
Some people had cameras and a couple of people had brought tape recorders. 2 EVP's were caught that night. One person got on her tape recorder, the voice of one of the children's ghost. The girl with the tape recorder was saying , " If anyone was there who wanted to be heard, they could speak " (or something similar) . When she played it back, it was a little girls voice saying,"It's Lester." I guess she was telling us that "Lester" was there.
A man in the group got something on his tape recorder. It was a man's voice that said said that one word we would get our mouth's washed out for saying. Yes, the "F " word. It said F*** it or some other word after that. That was a little scary, hearing that.
Anyway, it was great!! I think i'm going to go back next week too.

Follow-up : 07/17/2006
We did a Follow-up as a Group this Time, with the Crew of the Heritage Museum. We arrived at 8:00pm sharp and left around 11:00pm. We hoped for Something to happen ... were we in for a few Surprises !
We were greeted and given a short History about the Place. We investigated the 1st Floor and lingered at the haunted Mirror a bit, taking Video, Pictures and the normal Readings. Most of the Group heard what sounded like Screams coming from the left Hallway ... unfortunately I didn't, but we ventured in that Direction and got some awesome EMF and Temp Readings. At one Point, where I was standing, it measured 90F and my Surroundings were a comfortable 77F. I was literally sweating. It stayed for about a Minute and then disappeared. In the Meantime, Vernis was taking Pictures of the Staircase and as a Myst was forming, he snapped a Picture ... how lucky can you get ? Well, with our first capture of a Myst, we were sure that was going to be it ... wrong. As we were entering the "History" Room, a few Seconds after a Shadow was seen, by several Members, exiting the far Door where this Orb was.
We ventured up to the 2nd Floor and again got some abnormal EMF and Temp Readings. In one of the Rooms, which is attached to the "Orb Wall Room", Orbs were seen shooting into the "Orb Wall" and Vernis got pushed as he knelt down by the Sawhorses. He took a Picture when he, Gina and Michael entered the Room. They saw the Orbs going into the Wall and Gina got a good cold Reading.
"Mary's Room" was very interesting too. We experienced Everything from being touched, Hair and Clothing being tugged on, to Orbs, again, shooting all about and in and out of the Walls. Now, this Room is attached to the "Sawhorse Room". We did not experience these Orbs shooting about like this in any other Part of the House.
It was getting darker and since the Orb Activity was said to be concentrated in the "Orb Wall Room", me and the trusty Camcorder went in there. It was almost Dark when we began seeing them flitting about. Here now are the Videos that I took. They are much better to see in DVD Form, but I had to put them in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER Format to upload :

We have Tons of good Pictures and more Video, but not enough Space to keep them.
Are we going back ... Of course we will !
