The Folly of the Blind
My father has been proven blind once more:
Enchanted by my sisters' dazzling snares,
He split himself in half without a cure,
But yet cannot see his own faults, or theirs.
He's punished the honest ones too far,
And then, rewarding those who do so wrong,
He wonders oft why I he cannot mar
That has been true to him all along.
He tried to rid himself of me without
The thought that I might care and want to stay;
Despite my admonitions, I'm forced out,
Supposed to never again come this way.
   And so a loyal daughter still am I
   To hope that someday we will reunite.
