For a while we were cool
What people thought, we weren't really caring
I thought I was falling for you
because of all the good times we were sharing

but the last time we spoke
a few things you said puzzled me
Then I realized and I woke
I'm not the person you want me to be

I could never fill the shoes you've imagined
and I'll never try
You talk about it with such passion
now I sit here and wonder why

Why didn't see it before?
Why was I so blind?
Could it be I wanted us to be more?
The answer, I doubt I'll ever find

a bit more aware

so I can think before I care
