Sorcery, Wizardry, Witchcraft and Magicianry are the four main power groups associated with the isle's. There is another called the Dark Arts and the Light Arts. The light arts is myth but is said to be the counter attack of Dark magic.The rest are weaker powers and aren't considered in the power groups. The are mostly classified as Magicians.

Witchcraft
Wizards are as powerful as a sorcerer, but lack the amount of magic that can be done. Sorcerer's can counter any incantation a wizard does, it just depends how fast you are and a wizard will win hands down in agility. The only other mag that can equal a wizards agility and sometimes better it is a witch. Thats why some people believe a wizard is an off bread of a sorcerer and a witch but this is not the case, the mag wizard was on the planet even before a witch. Wizards don't use a weapon to channel their energy, they read out incantations, use their hands and perform spells(Another reason why they thought of the off bread) To gain the honor of being a wizard you must go through ten years of schooling and can come back for an extra five but being an apprentice you can complete training in half that, although some choose to stay with their masters.
Sorcery is the most powerful title among all men and women as a sorcerer or sorceress can do the impossible. They are the gaurdians of the worlds and watch over their people, not as gods but as friends. Some however are more evil than others, causing many to flee at their wrath. The most famous dark sorcerer is Strag. In prophecies he is named the first born mag of the dark world, and is half demon.
Sorcerers do not use wands(What i call sparses)or potions, they use a Dragot. A dragons orb from the god Drax that is given only to the most worthy of sorcerers. It is placed upon a dragon's holder(Which is called a dragot anyway) and sorcerers use it to channel their power and make it stronger, faster and more accurate. A dragons orb gets its power from Drax the light dragon, he places his knowledge and a human mind inside it and makes it come to life giving it's owner two minds forever. The dragons orb and the owner share life and death together so if one dies they both do.
When a sorcerer does not need their dragot they tell it to dissappear with their mind and it becomes truly apart of them. To be classified as a trained sorcerer, one has to go through ten years of schooling or a few years of being an apprentice. Graduates have the opportunity to stay on for a further ten years in which more can be learned.
Witches are the fastest magical beings on the planet, especially when they are on their brooms. Even the best sorcerer's will not catch up to witches, even if they are twice their own age. They do not have warts as most are sensible enough not to do something that will disfigure themselves but there is the odd one that has a big head and tries something that back fires, causing anything wierd to happen. Witches use potions with spells to activate them. Some spells work without potions but usually they still have a stunner potion ready and available at hand. Witches are natural spies as they can blend into a crowd quite easily and have the best hearing. Both Male and Female's can be witches but the Female's are the better of the two and can get information easier than any male. Witchcraft only needs five years of teaching but they have the option to stay on for an extra five years, the last five get much more experianced and have a chance to become witch spies afterward.
Magicianry
Magicians are not the best fighters. Their lack of almost everything to do with magic makes them easy targets for mind control. Although they are weak, they will put up a fight and usually escape using their power to create walls of magic, like force fields. The force fields are quite hard to break, even for the best mag but it only usually works in tight places. In open places they usually use stunners but sometimes these are quite slow and they get caught up in a counter curse from their opponent. A magicians power will also be much greater when he or she gets their sparse. It's a wand that works the same way as a dragot but less powerful. Magicians only recieve their sparse if they complete eight years of schooling. The minimum is five years or maximum  of ten. The last three are teaching of how to use the sparse properly. Through a master, a magician could complete training and recieve a sparse within five years.
Dark Arts
The Serpent Art is what it is most commonly called. The most feared power among all although it is not classified as a power because it was out lawed. Mirvin came to this realization when a wizard who was respected as one of the best who ever lived blew himself up trying to perform a dark spell. After this Mirvin put a penalty of life in prison if anyone was caught practicing this deadly art.
Even the most powerful mag's have trouble controlling dark powers, it has a tendency to blow up in your face if you do the slightest thing wrong. What's really interesting about the Dark arts is it comes under each catagory of power usage. That is it can be a spell, potion incantation or a desire. Nobody knows how this can be but it is the hardest to learn perfectly.
There was once a group of monks that practiced the art in secret somewhere within Bantra or Liostra. Although a thorough search was performed they were never found. They are blamed for almost a hundred murders, usually sacrafices for various crimes.
